I shoot a 52 gr H/P B/T moly coated bullet , my rifle is a 22-250 winchester Coyote everybody tells me moly bullets will ruin my barrel , anybodys thoughts on this ?

I have heard the same thing...I am going to fire up my first 60 or so moly loads in my 308 tomorrow and see how she goes...I have heard people say that moly attracts moisture and promotes rust? I clean my guns very well so we shall see.

I had shot competition benchrest for years and used nothing but moly bullets since the technique came out. I have seen no problems but then my barrels were always stainless steel. It has always made it easier to clean my barrels and had to do it less often.

I shoot moly exclusively in 22-250 and I've never heard this. They do clean quicker, and the only problem I've had is I made the mistake of breaking in the barrel with moly. Never gonna do that again.

Most folks (98% or better) do not use moly anymore as we are out for extreme accuracy above all else. It differs from barrel to barrel. I had one barrel which would shoot moly fine, although no real gain from doing so. I had another barrel that I thought I would never get clean again. Others had similar experiences. I know a couple of guys who still shoot moly and do not clean all weekend. They are not beating our eyes out either. They just do not like to clean. You will have to experiment with your barrel and see if it is worth the trouble. For what gain though, I ask. What are you trying to accomplish with it.

I had some pitting problems in a chrome-moly barrel that I shot moly'd bullets through. It was a fairly humid house, but I never saw pitting on the other rifle barrels--just the moly'd one.

I thought that Moly bullets were susposed to be used because they were not as hard on barrels.
