Anyone know of a place for the moon clips and belt holders for the ones that work with the 25-2? Might be picking up an old super tricked out comp gun.,.......

http://www.ranchproducts.com/ Last time I ordered 100 cost around $20 and they are steel.

Click on this photo for a video of a mooner i built. The feed tube (or any tube can be) notched to de moon.

If you reload using 45 gap brass, you don't need tools to moon/demoon with steel moon clips and the small primers allow for lighter DA triggger pulls.

Wilson Combat sells em but they're pricey with the nickel wash

but the WC de-mooner is only $3

FYI - the SMith & Wesson revolvers in .45 ACP
also chamber and shoot the .45 Auto Rim - Peters Ammo
created the rimmed .45 AR in 1921 - you can use
the HKS 25M speedloader for .45 AR.

belt holder for full moon clips. I think the only guy
I found that made them cordura dyed to match my cordura
belt and holster was/is Rosen or del fatti - probably others
make them in natural or black.

Try googling Fullmoon belt holders

Moon clips

Another source is Dillon. I just bought a potload and the newer style de/re-mooner from them. They also have the spring steel belt clips. I also just received my Sam Andrews Leather Monarch shoulder holster for my 2.5" 325NG. It has an off-side ammo holder that holds extra loads already clipped up. I got mine to hold 4 extra moon clips and rounds but Mr. Andrews will make the ammo holder to hold however many you want.
I noticed that one poster was speaking about using .45GAP brass for reloading...Can anyone advise as to whether the S&W revolvers in .45acp can tolerate the .45GAP factory ammo? Thanks.

aryfrosty - .45 GAP is shorter than the .45 ACP case length so you would HAVE to use full moon clips if shot in a .45 ACP chamber

>45 GAP runs at .45 ACP +P pressure in order to approximate the
velocity of standard .45 ACP - .45 ACP in full moon clips already has
plenty of clearance in reloading as well as the 22 25 & 625 being more
than strong enough for the relatively low pressure of even .45 +P

almost all the other cartridges the N frame S&Ws are chambered for are
Magnum or magnum pressure ;eve;s i.e 10mm AUto.

I have never shot factory 45 GAP rounds in my 45 ACP revolvers but I have shot many thousands of round of brass reloaded ammo to 170 power factor. The N frame revolver is plenty strong enough.

The weak link in the .45 caliber N-Frames is the size of the holes in the cylinder.

They are getting awful close to the bolt cuts over the thinest part of the chamber walls.

This is not a factor in smaller caliber Magnums they are chambered for, as there is plenty of steel left at the bolt cuts in .44 or smaller calibers..

Clark Custom will convert your 625 to 460 Rowland
(http://www.clarkcustomguns.com/revserv.htm) and it operates at higher pressures than 44 magnum. 45 GAP is the same as 45 ACP +P

SAMMI max pressures are

45 ACP 21,000 PSI
45 ACP +P 23,000 PSI
45 GAP 23,000 PSI

The 460 Rowland operates at 40,000 PSI, there is room to spare.
