I read several gun blogs every day, including Kim du Toit's The Other Side of Kim, David Codrea's The War On Guns, the GeekWithA.45 and David Hardy's Of Arms and the Law. The other day on his blog, David Hardy mentioned that a federal bill to block post-emergency arms confiscations had made it out of committee (story here). Included in the story from The Hill was the following:

Joshua Horowitz, director of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, said there is a lack of evidence showing post-Katrina residents of New Orleans were under grave danger without their firearms.
"There’s been a lot of hyperbole on this," Horowitz said. "There's evidence that the police were doing their job. It's not for a gun control group or the NRA to get in there and make decisions. I don’t know why we don’t trust law enforcement to do what’s right in these situations."

How's that for blind faith in the government? Not to mention denial...But here's what I wonder: Did these idiots have observers on the ground in southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi in the aftermath of Katrina observing the behavior and efficacy of law enforcement? I can't help but think they didn't, as Mr. Horowitz offered absolutely no evidence to back up his statement, and that's what infuriates me so: these sanctimonious <expletive deleted>s sit there and spew this crap from their air-conditioned offices, almost nine months removed and literally a thousand miles away from the hell that the post-Katrina central Gulf Coast was. I guess I shouldn't expect anything different, but this is just outrageous. :fire:
