I got some good news from Tony at the new Steyr USA division in Mississippi. They are hoping to have the new Steyr pistols available in another 6 weeks, they are just waiting for some of the paperwork to come back from the ATF. At the same time they are hoping to have a new Steyr Website up and operational. www.usasteyr.com will still be operational, but they are hoping to add www.steyrmannlicherus.com I also asked him if we would be able to to buy the front rail adapter from them directly. He wasn’t sure when they were getting those in but he said they will be available eventually. He said that Diamond Trail Shooter's Supply will still be handling most of the parts orders, and any warranty work that is needed.

I am very happy to hear that Steyr is moving ahead with plans to make their pistols more commercially available. It is also reassuring to know that we don’t have to worry about some fly by night importer going out of business. No more importers Steyr Corporate is going to be importing their own guns. I view this as a big bonus for Steyr owners in that it will provide a good amount of stability to the brand. I am actually looking forward to the price of Steyr pistols going up, I know that is kind of crazy. I am hoping that it will bring the value of all of the current guns up as well. Allot of people have not accepted Steyr pistol for the mere fact that you can buy them for less then $300!! Seems kind of crazy to me, if it is a quality manufactured gun it shouldn't be looked down on merely because you can purchase them for less then they normally would go for. Just my thought.

Im not holding my breath. I got the rude run around at the Shot Show and dont get phone calls to the alleged new importer returned. Too bad, I could sell a ton of Steyr rifles here in Alaska.

Its a shame, they make a nice product. Lucky for me personally, I did find a NIB SSG, but as for the shop, Im gonna be hesitant to sell them to customers when I cant feel comfortable with customer support. One thing in the world I hate is failure to return phone calls.

I doubt the new pistols will be anywhere near $300. would expect $450.

hope they come up with more spare parts or a package of parts similar to what glock has going. armorer and tech classes and certs would be cool as well.

If the MSRP is going to be $682 then the real world street price will be in the $550 range. I guess we should expect these pistols to be at least as much as a Glock if not closer to an HK. They are such quality guns it doesn't bother me to spend that much. Although I do prefer purchasing them when they are only $289.

When the M9/40's were introduced originally (GSI was the importer), they were selling for about $475 at gun shows in Houston. I'd expect the M-A1's to be sold at about the same price when they are introduced. If Steyr is smart, it would price the M-A1 against the Springfield XD to buy some market share.

I agree Cawdor, Steyr should go after teh XD market and leave Glock to itself. I have talked to Glock owners that list one of the reasons they like the Glock over the XD is it higher price.

Yep, higher price for some reason makes a gun more appealing. Case in point, HK pistols. They definitely don't cost much more to make than a Glock or XD, or any other polymer pistol, but by jacking up the price, it seems they sell better.

Sheesh, I don't get people some times.

They only get to charge a higher price if they end up in movies/video games. FYI the CZ75B MSRP is something like $500 and i have NEVER heard of anyone ever paying that. HOPEFULLY the steyrs will have the same sort of situation. I've always wanted one of these things.

Until SA develops a .45 ACP version there will be one huge reason to choose a Glock 21, 30, or 36 over an XD: there is no comparable XD.

Im just hoping that the new steyr frames and grips are half as comfortable as the old ones.

Not that i really care, i already got one of the old ones.

I am also interested in whether or not the new style frames withll fit the old slides...that would ad an accessory rail, which i have been wanting.

Actually Sundance, if HK lowered their prices, I'd have more of them. I own an H&K despite its high price, not because of it.

I really do like the looks of the new Steyr pistols (M-A1's). I wasn't too fond of the M9. It is undoubtably a nice pistol, just couldn't get used to the grip. The M-A1 is another candidate for the .45 GAP!

Okay, HK's prices were originally in a league with Glocks and they were selling poorly. So, HK JACKS the price and they start selling. You explain it to me then.

sundance, HK pistols have always been too expensive for me. I've only been purchasing pistols for 11 years now, and HK products have always been outside my spending circle, until recently. I don't have any numbers that can confirm or deny your "stats." I didn't know that HK experienced any kind of boom in sales volume. Then again, I haven't looked at their annual report. I know the SOCOM pistol brought the company more notoriety. The bottom line for me, I wanted a polymer pistol w/ hammer that I could carry cocked and locked or DA/SA, and I wanted it chambered in .45. That didn't leave me many options. After shooting the gun, it was well worth the money I spent. I have over 700 invested in my XD357, and I don't think it's any better than the HK.

Just like the XD/HS2000 pistols, I think the days of spending less than 300 dollars on a new Steyr pistol are just about over. I really, really hope they offer it in .45 GAP.
