The last lead discussion thread is 5 pages long. I didn't want this missed by tagging it on the end. Although not a bullet - I thought this was an unusual story about a lead poisoning fatality. I would not have expected the child to die from this exposure scenario. But a California poison control center webpage notes "that young children absorb 50% of a lead ingestion while adults absorb only 10%." Age plays a big factor.

800,000 bracelets recalled for lead danger
4-year-old child died after swallowing Reebok jewelry, government says

WASHINGTON - Reebok is recalling 300,000 children’s charm bracelets because a 4-year-old died from lead poisoning after swallowing a piece of the jewelry, the government said Thursday.

The silver-colored bracelets, bearing heart-shaped charms engraved with the “Reebok” name, were given away from May 2004 through this month with the purchase of children’s shoes in major shoe stores across the country. The bracelets contain high levels of lead, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

I saw this on the news...not only were the Reebok bracelets being recalled...but a few type of those "glow stick" necklaces/bracelets were being recalled. Wasn't fully paying attention though. I think the glow jewelry was being sold at a dollar store.

Just FYI.
