For Christmas, my wife got my a CZ Kadet top end for mt CZ75.

Finally got a chance to try it today. I spent about 45 minutes on Christmas actually fitting the top end. That was easy. Just took it slow and things went in easy.

At the range today, I fired off about 300 rounds of assorted crap .22 I had laying around. I had about 10 misfires that required my pulling the trigger a 2nd time to fire. It is nice having that DA pull to restrike. Other then that, it was boring. Aim, pull trigger, hit target. Repeat. No hiccups. No misfeeds. No jams.

Did seem kinda silly having a full size full weight combat pistol firing off .22's, but wow was it accurate.

Anway, if you own a CZ 75/85/ or similar pistol and don't pick up a Kadet kit, you should. Now.

Best price I've seen is $229 for the kit, box, and 2 magazines from Whittaker Guns.

I've been playing with one recently

It is the only 22 I've shot that doesn't feel like a toy. Mine has been exceedingly accurate, and boringly reliable. After about 1000 rounds of mixed el cheapo ammo (All the 98 cent stuff and bulk packs from Walmart) I have no stovepipes and no feeding issues to report.

I've also had an occaisonal failure to fire (light strike). I was writing this off to the seriously reduced hammer spring I was running.

I amazed more people don't have these things. It absolutely blows the P22 out of the water.

Now you gotta try the Kadet kit on a CZ SP-01. I use it on mine and it is amazing how the heavy SP-01 and its rail keep recoil to nothing. My only wish is to have some mags that held more than 10 rounds of .22lr, that would make the Kadet the perfect .22 pistol.

CZ used to make 15rnders maybe?

Go ahead and email/call CZusa and tell them you'd like to see some higher cap mags.

So far they've resisted everybody's attempts.
Maybe if enough people bug them...

ah ok, i didnt know if it involved any kind of permanent mods resulting in a gun that can't be converted back into centerfire or something

i'm used to glock (read: lose) tolerances):p

All fitting is done to the .22 Kadet slide and barrel assembly.

NOTHING is done to the frame or the original top end.

Fitting a Kadet kit does nothing that effects the original configuration.

will the kit work on the pcr?

Yes, though the magazine will obviously not be flush with the grip.

It also works on the RAMI, while we're at it.

I like my Kadet better than my Marvels, but then again, I'm not into bullseye stuff.

I prefer the Kadet Kit on my PCR over my full size 75B. The lighter trigger and hammer on the PCR is perfect for .22.

Can you do a reverse kit upgrade? If I bought the Kadet (whole pistol in .22LR) and later wanted to change to, say, 9mm- could I get a slide and mag for that? Or if I want 2 guns eventually, should I just go ahead and buy the 9mm, then get the .22LR kit? I've been thinking of getting a .22 pistol and the Kadet consistantly gets thumbs up.

22LR to 9mm

CZ doesn't cell topends for their guns (with the exception of the Kadet kit of course). They supposedly hand fit their guns at the factory, and so a drop in slide kit would not be up to their standards.

You can't convert a kadet to 9mm, unless you happened to find a 9mm top end for sale some where. FWIW the top end of my 75B works fine on the Kadet frame I have. If you buy a kadet pistol, the frame and internals are literally just a 75B. One note though, my Kadet lower does not have the mechanism for the firing pin safety. If you were to find a 75B top end for it, you would have to remove the firing pin safety for it to work on the Kadet frame. This is no big deal, and is not a permanent modification (simply removing parts no cutting/filing).

There were some complete Kadet pistols on sale for $289 or so. Those appear to be gone now. If you can get a complete Kadet for that much, I would go that route. At $340 for a pistol, or whatever they normally sell for, I'd probably just get the adapter (you can mail order this from whomever you want). Also remember that the Kadet mags are not cheap. If you buy a complete kadet pistol it should come with two mags. If it only has one, than somebody is playing games. I don't know how many the kit is supposed to come with.

I recently bought the gun (not the kit) and it is superb. Very accurate and a great training aid for someone that is gun shy or just getting into shooting. Highly recommended.

I had an AA kit for a Glock, and although it functioned fine and was reasonably accurate, it is not the same feel as the heft of the Kadet. I much prefer the Kadet. I would opt again for the complete pistol as opposed to the kit, but that is just me perhaps... I just prefer the dedicated use as a training tool.
