First the backround to the story. I'm currently training my friend Tony in the ways of the gun nut. He already has a respectable 4 gun collection at 17 years old. Well we decided to go out target shooting today. Didn't take much, AR-15, Mossberg 500c, Maverick 88 26", Vz.24, Henry lever .22, Savage 94c, High Standard Sentinel Deluxe, Raven MP-25, CZ-52, and a Colt Detective Special. We had been shooting for around 45 minutes when a silver suv pulls up with a dirt bike on the back. We figure he is gonna trail ride so I go over to say hi, turns out he wants to put some rounds down range. Fine with us, we love safe shooting company. I walked back to our shady spot, pick up the AR-15 and a mag, and on the way back I see him pulling out his first toy.

A full auto 9mm M11. He runs a magazine through, then offers me a mag which i graciousley accept. Then he lets Tony run a mag through also, which was Tony's first FA experiance. I always love seeing someones first FA-experiance smile, it's always the biggest one possible. After that we chatted for a bit, he also had a semi AK-74, non-saiga, straight from Russia with Russian markings, very cool. I let him put a magazine through my CZ-52, and Tony lets him put 5 down range with the Vz.24. After that he packed up but before that I told him about this board about which he seemed very interested in, so hopefully he will stop by and maybe start posting.

The moral of the story is, how else can you meet a complete stranger in the middle of nowhere, miles away from any town, and make friends in under 5 minutes? Me and Tony couldn't really think of any ways. And CJ, if you are reading this thread why don't you post and say hi, maybe tell us a bit about your collection. I know you said you had some other ak-variants and a shorty AR, anything else?

A good sport yes, but the best could be argued by many. The same situation happens everyday as new people walk on ball courts, meet on fields, etc, etc.

How many times does someone hand you a $3/4k(the guy we met payed $1500 for his, but I see most people here pay around $4k) piece of equipment and say "have fun"?

I've swapped trail vehicles, or jet skis by strangers who we have just met. I was even given a turn at driving a flatbottom jet boat once.
A dollar value doesn't always excite everybody.

Yes, he had a tax stamp, I saw it when he pulled his papers out to get me the name of the company that he bought the gun from.

You were just out in the middle of the woods and someone drives up who happens to be carrying a fully automatic 9mm subgun?

Nice. :D

That's how America should be!

"Hey, want to try my FA rifle/pistol/whatever?"

"Sure!"

I mean.... seriously, if that were how the majority of us interacted, there might be a little more of a push to undo the 1986 cap.

Well, we were out in the desert not the woods, but close enough. After we got home my friend Tony started calling the people he had invited but never came and started telling them how much they missed. I'm pretty sure he is hooked on FA, he begs me every time I see him to take him with us next time we go out in the desert to shoot FA. I love making drool with the video of me sitting behind that M134.

I'm starting to think so!

It gives me hope that we as a country, nay, as a race overall, are not destined to wipe ourselves out. Seeing that kind of trust and kindness, regardless of moneytary value, is good.

I agree that one can meet new friends while shooting, did so a couple of times. BTW Turkish were do you shoot?

Its not everyday that a complete stranger lets you loose with a firearm equipped with 'da switch'

Priceless!
