I just moved to Texas as I have stated in some earlier posts. I havent been able to get a concealed pistol permit, but I DO have a Florida and Penn. licenses.

I do have a Texas Drivers license.

My question is , is it ok that I am going to use my Florida permit, that Texas recognizes even though I have a Texas drivers license?

I might have to take my fiannces family to Dallas, because of the storm.

If your FL license is a "resident" FL license then by getting a TX drivers license you've just said you are a TX resident not an FL resident.
In my NON legal/John Q Citizen opinion, your FL permit is probably no longer valid.

and post the same question.

The law was amended to allow you to continue using your Florida license. this took place about two years ago. I'm not sure how long you have to go ahead and get a Texas license. Just to make sure, call the texas dps concealed handgun unit.

I don't know what the FL law is but if I remember the TX code correctly, once you are no longer a TX resident you're required to relinquish your permit.
(I know if I'm wrong someone will correct me in about 30 seconds).

He has a FL license and not Texas so that doesnt matter. Many states allow non-residents to have permits. Texas is supposedly changing to that sometime.

I was in the same boat as you when I lived in texas. I had a TX drivers license and was a texas resident but had an AZ CCW. I used to just carry around a printout from the texas DPS website that showed the reciprocity. I also had the TX DPS phone number in my cell phone so that I could get ahold of them immediately if the cop didnt know what reciprocity meant.

I forgot to mention that the florida license is a non resident, so I wouldnt ever give it up.

As long as your Florida permit is valid in the state of Florida, TX should honor it under the reciprocity agreement. Handing a cop a TX DL and a Florida permit may or may not cause problems for you, however. You might want to get the TX CHL eventually.
