Where is the best place to get a complete bolt assembly for a Mosin Nagant m91/30?

I've seen some on gunbroker, numrich, ebay, and elsewhere, but I'm wondering if there's a better place, a better bolt, or generally a better price to get one at. ~$40-50 seems like the cheapest I could get, but I'm not sure if there are specific things to look for, or if I could do better. Any ideas?

Backstory:
I've been offered a Mosin for a ridiculously low price, with the caveat that it lacks a bolt. The rifle itself is a 1942 (or 43? I can't recall...) Ishevsk, with acceptable wood (especially given the price) and what looks like decent rifling. It comes straight from the arsenal over yonder, never been owned by anyone on this side of the ocean, and because of the lack of bolt they want to get rid of it on the cheap instead of trying to find a bolt themselves. I'll be picking it up next week regardless, but I wanted to get started on the bolt research immediately.

Also, at some point way in the future, I may buy an ATI scope mount and put it on this rifle. Is it better to buy the parts of the bolt separately and get one of those bent bolt bodies that are made to work for the ATI mount? (such as on the bottom of this page: http://mosinnagant.net/boltman/boltman.html)

Worst case scenario I'll either just buy one or hold onto it for a while to wait for a deal, but I figured I'd ask.

Thanks in advance :)

Wouldn't you need to headspace the new bolt?
Indeed. I am investigating this as well, and my research actually has me concerned about ordering a bolt and it not headspacing correctly. If it's too tight then no big deal, but if it's too much headspace, there's only a couple ways to fix it-- either have the barrel set back (which can cost 5-10 times what I'm paying for the rifle), or try different bolt heads till I find one that works.

Maybe when I order the bolt, I'll order a spare bolt head too.

Also I believe that the extractor groove cut into the barrel generally matches to the bolt that was head spaced. If you are wanting to get a turned down bolt as opposed to replacing the whole Bolt i would recommend just replacing the bolt body, but as I do not know what you intend, could you provide more details?

Also the bolt man and others are drying up on bolt body's for mosins you better make a call and get one quickly, I have been looking to get a bolt body modified to turn the handle down so I have been searching in this area over the last week.

Checking headspace on a rimmed cartridge firing rifle is easy. Find washer of either nogo or field gage thickness (.074 but I need to check that) that fits into bolt recess. Cut off one edge for extractor. Try to close bolt. If closes, you are in do-do. I made one in 30 minutes and I don't have a grinder.

Checking's no issue. Fixing could be fun :p

I wouldn't worry too much about the new bolt not headspacing correctly; I have never known of a Mosin failing a headspace check unless it had been subjected to some amateur gunsmithing or the test was done wrong. They're very tolerant of mixed parts. Checking the headspace is also a pain as you have to remove the extractor from the bolt head or take a Dremel to your gauge. Neither of those are things I want to do.

I own a couple dozen of the things, most with an assortment of mismatched parts, have never checked any of them for headspace, and don't plan to start. But that's just me.

Mosins headspace off of the cartridge rim. Their tolerances are on the loose side. I wouldn't really worry about a new bolt not being close enough, it'll probably work.

Check it before firing of course to be sure. Safety, and all that.

Buy the rifle without the bolt. Sell it for parts, buy a new rifle.
Thought about doing this. I'm definitely going to buy it regardless, and I think I'll try a bolt as well. Worst case scenario, even if the headspace is bad I can still part it out afterwards and not lose anything.

What would be cool is if a guy who has a dozen Mosins and a headspace guage took a random bolt and tried it in a few different guns, then came back and told us the results.

milsurp supply .com sold them at one point. dont remember price but it was not terrible. If thats not the exact address google military surplus and it should come up within the first five results, cheers!

I've spoken with a gentleman who has a decent price for the bolt, and if that falls through I've found a couple online retailers.

Side note: PU scope mounts look pretty neat. I like the looks and the idea better than the ATI mount, especially if I could get one with 1" rings. A bit more expensive, so I'd have to really test out the rifle before I did such a thing.
