I don't see any problems with upgrades that aren't hacking and slashing. But just fyi:
For that same price (maybe a bit more these days) you could get a Mosin-Nagant made by legendary gunsmiths with a custom heavy barrel, custom fitted stock and precisely calibrated sights. And you don't have to change a thing on it.
