Mosin Nagant Project

go to youtube and look up mosin nagant torture test by moss gun and pawn. they are increadably strong rifles, and were made to be more accurate than one would think.
you have done a great job on your rifle by the way. I have a lee enfield #1 mk3 303 british with miss matching numbers I am going to scope. but I am going to cheat, I am having my local gunsmith do the work, I just do not know enough to do it myself, and as it is deadly accurate I hate to mess it up. will give some pics when it is done.

The reason I used this rifle is because the stock was wrecked and there was exterior rust, but the rifling is perfect. I really like the scope mount, it isn't as high as it looks, mainly because I bought the low profile mount. The mount is very solid as well, no chance of shifting from recoil.

Heck, there are millions of these mosins out here.. Seems like the perfect rifle to play with all sorts of mods. If they were even slightly rare then someone could have that as a argument

That's why I love Bubba'ing them :D Too simple and strong to screw up, and so cheap that you don't care if you do.

Looks the the OP has a good project going. I think the group he shot speaks for itself.

I finished the last major part, the muzzle brake. I machined it out of 316 stainless and screwed it on with 9/16x18 threads. The recoil is heavily reduced.

Your project looks real nice. I really like following these threads. I also have to ask about the cheek weld to the stock. The scope appears to be a lot higher than needed.

The cheek weld is fairly easy actually. The scope is the lowest mount I could get and still see iron sights.

I'm currently working on my own similar project. I cleaned up and polished all of the camming surfaces and any other friction points I could find as well. I believe I now have the only nagant that doesn't require a pry bar, 2 come-alongs and a small tractor to cycle. Makes a huge difference.

I have two wartime round receiver Mosins and neither one has had any issues with cycling or feeding.

Mine is a 1943 round receiver and it works perfectly. It had some old gunky lube in the bolt and firing pin assembly, but even then it worked great.

Both of my mosins, the 1954 chinese cabine that I modified and the 1942 91/30 original cycle very easily. The T53 is easier because of the long bolt handle.
