I got the gunsmithing itch and cut my barrel to 16 inches not realizing a
round might not stabilize do you think it will keyhole.I cant go shooting
right now to find out because my jeep battery melted.if someone has
experience with 16 inch nagant barrels any advice would be appreciated
I'll be using 147 grain light ball thank you.

you should be fine. you'll lose some velocity, but as far as I know, the twist rate is constant. That means the bullet is spinning fast enough to stabilize within a few cm of the chamber.

The big question is how clean is the crown?

Thank you OWEN for your response.the crown is good no burrs and it's nice and even.

Or asked the question "BEFORE" you set the woods on fire.

Ever wonder why the .30 Herret was more effecient than the 30-30 in the 16 inch Contender pistol.

Please forgive me but I have to ask this question.................

Was this a rocket science project or are you just studying the big bang theory........

NOTE: If you notice the muzzle flash on your Mosin scout rifle is more reddish in color it is the Doppler shift effect as the humongous muzzle blast from the short barrel approaches the speed of light.
