Ok so everything looks fine untill i put 5 rounds in, go to close the bolt and most every time the top rounds takes a nose dive and doesnt chamber. im pissed. ive tried to troubleshoot to the best of my ability (intermediate skills) and im hoping someone can school me on what im doin wrong. im using russian 148gr surplus. thanks a lot for any input.

It's an easy fix, as I recall, just adjusting a couple parts in the magazine, but I'm at work and my brain is a bit fried right now and I can't remember exactly what I did with out the rifle right in front of me.

Haha, awesome. Thanks a lot. Goin to the range now to sight in my mojo peep sights on the 91/30. I have to load 4, hand load the 5th into the chamber and press down on the 4 while I close the bolt lol.

Or most likely you have some cosmoline or a wood splinter interfering with the interrupter.

A good cleaning and inspection might fix it.

Yeah, it was the interrupter on my M-44 as well. Take out the barreled action, above the left side of the trigger is a screw. that screw is holding the interrupter spring, which in turn hold the interrupter. Make sure the interrupter is in the notch in the spring, and that the spring is tight.
My guess is that the interrupter isn't seated properly, and has either too much pressure on the round, or not enough.

Wow, i didnt have any issues feeding today, at all. extraction was fine too. Fist size groups @50 yards (range limited) not bad for 60's surplus in my hands. In between the day i first noticed the problem i disassembled the rifle and put it back together. Maybe that did the trick? I doubt it but i'll check the interrupter just incase. Thanks everyone.

My M-44 is intermittent with that feeding issue as well. Last time I had it on the range it was perfect. Sitting here just now it nose dived and had difficulty cycling.

I'm wondering if cycling rounds but not firing them has anything to do with it. It wouldn't surprise me if the recoil helps in cycling the rounds. By design or otherwise

sorry ive been off THR for a while. i guess i didnt clean my rifle as well as i thought. i thought i'd practice that at the range, cycling 5 without firing. no problems with that but there might be something to that. thanks a lot guys, keep on keepin on.

Edit:: i think was the interrupter. i'll have to put 100 more rounds through it to be sure though.
