I saw a possum eating eggs near the barn today so I went up to the house to get a gun. I grabbed grabbed my dads old .22 bolt action and shot it. I have always just used my Marlin but my eyes weren't adjusted to the dark when I reached into the safe and I used what grabbed.Afterward I looked at the rifle and realized I had never known what model it was. So I looked and it's a Mossberg 340 kc .22 S/L/LR.

I just did a few searches online and on THR and found nothing on it. Is any one familiar with this model? Where can I get some info on it?

I purchased a slightly-used Mossberg 340 back when I was in college and still have it. (40+ years later.) The darn thing fits me very well and I have no desire for any other 22. My son-in-law has a Ruger 10/22 and does not understand why I continue to keep my Mossberg when I could "upgrade" to a Ruger. I've kept it in very good condition and still enjoy shooting it.

Over time, I've done some searching on the 340 and have gotten some hits on it. I believe it was manufactured from 1958 to 1962, American made (of course back then. . .), and was fairly popular. I'm not sure, but I think I got some information from the Mossberg site - maybe in the archives section??

This site has a good start on Mossberg 22 information (Third posting has the link):

Google it again. There's stuff out there.
