I was wondering if any of you have used,or heard anything on the Mossberg 500 pump in 410.

I'm thinking of buying one and cutting the barrel down to 18 inches, and cutting the stock off at the pistol grip, for use as a truck and Carry on an ATV.

I was wondering if it would be legal as long as the barrel is still 18 inches, even though the stock is cut off at the pistol grip.
(The reason for chopping a few inches off the barrel is so I could use slugs in additon to shot)

I need infor for add on tru glow sights as well.

Thanks in advance.

as to the length, 26" is the minimum OAL, if i recall correctly.

make sure to practice first, it won't be helpful if you can't hit anything...

I'd strongly advise against the .410 as a defensive gun - it's pretty wimpy compared to any other gauge. Much rather get a 20ga., and shoot a lot more for a lot less money (the ammo's a lot cheaper), and also get a lot more energy out of the muzzle.

Well the reason for 410. is because it's dimensions are smaller, and it's lighter than the 12 or 20 gauge models.

I know I'd be loosing energy out the muzzle, but really it's for mobile ATV style gunning *Snakes and such* plus I can use it with the pistol grip and not worry a whole lot about having to go to the doctor *Plus it's the cool factor*

I'm going to look into the pg model and a colapsabile stock for it,I know I'm going for a sling too.

Thanks for showing the pg option,I didn't know they had one until I looked at the link, that will save me having to use a hacksaw on a perfectly good barrel and stock.

I've got a Mossberg 500 in 20ga. for my kids and it seems a well made gun in every respect. I like shooting it as well and one of these days I'm going to give it a workout when they aren't around, they usually only let me get a few shots off before asking for it back. We've probably got a few thousand rounds through it with no problems at all. I'd like to have one in .410 for me to play with as a friend had one once and I enjoyed a few rounds through it.

I'll be picking one of the .410 spec purpose w/ pistol fore end and full stock on it for the wife tommorrow. It will be her HD gun until she gets her pistol permit. I plan on putting a collapseable AR style stock on it. Figure that a .410 w/ buck will hit hard enough at normal home distances to be effective without alot of over penetration. Besides who here can tell the difference between the sound of a 12 or 410 slide being racked
