Ok, folks. I'm not even sure this is the appropriate place for this one...I need a value, but NOT of something I have.

A good friend came into some firearms, and wants to offer me first crack. From what he said, the only one I'm interested in is a Mossberg 500 16 in what he describes as "practically brand new" condition.

This is a GOOD friend, and I can tell he wants me to end up with the gun. I have a sentimental attachment to pump 16s. Problem is, I searched gunbroker and even googled it, and I can't find any idea of what a "fair price" is for said gun.

I normally think talking about money is...tacky, but the gentlemen implied he'd pass the firearm on to me in the $100 range. This seems much too low, and I don't think I'd feel right paying significantly less than I think he could get on the open market. Any advice on what I should pay?

Thanks. I always find buying and selling between friends a little awkward...

Seems fair, especially if he's comfortable with it. 16ga isn't exactly sought after, would be worth more if it was a 12.

Plain barrel, no vent rib, fixed choke, no soup can C-Lect-a-choke on the muzzle, overall very good to excellent condition the gun is worth about $125-$150. 16s and 12s bring just about the same amount of money and 20 guage gums bring a little bit more.HTH
