Mossberg 500 Mariner for $300

My local store has a Mossberg 500 Mariner for $299 and the guy said they might be discounting it more soon. Is this gun just designed for home defense or could it be used for some sort of hunting? For the price is it something I should buy if I could get it for $250? What's the aftermarket prices on these things?

If it's in good shape, $300 is already a good deal...

its designed as a self defense gun, but could be used for hunting with slugs, etc.

My 590 Mariner busts hand-thrown clays just fine...

if the 500 version is the standard mag tube you can drop on any hunting-length barrel you like.

Where can you get extra barrels?

Many outlets for barrels. Google what you want, you'll easily find what you need. Just don't order from Mossberg, I ordered and paid for a 590A1 barrel back before Christmas. Was promised that it shipped twice. Called Monday, still not shipped. Cancelled the order. Good thing the guns are tough, customer service at mossberg is non existent.

FYI in case you're not aware, 500 and 590 barrels are NOT interchangeable.
