My Mossy 500 safety is still the stock plastic one and when I'm shooting it tends to move back partially--enough to prevent the trigger from being pulled. Tightening the stupid one way screw yields no results. I'm thinking for the price, why not try the alloy replacement safety button from Brownell's. I read up on this from the old thread "Mossberg 500 Safety Button Repairs" by Ceemack.

My question: Any ideas for getting the one way screw out without drilling it out? I'd really rather not have to do that.

When I removed mine I just used a little downward pressure on the screw driver. Not a lot, just enough to get it to dig into the metal enough to turn the screw out.

I put in the metal safety, DON"T LOSE THE LITTLE STEEL BALL, and then used some red loctite and put the screw back in.
