I have a Mossberg 500A (12 gauge) that I've owned for a few years. It has the standard wood stock. It's my first shotgun and I bought it knowing absolutely nothing about shotgun fit. Now that I'm learning a little more and getting into wing shooting I've come to the conclusion that the stock has too much drop so that when I mount the gun naturally the gun is pointing very low. I know that many guns now come with shims to adjust the drop, cast off, etc. I found these shims on the Mossberg website (http://www.mossberg.com/cgi-bin/commerce.exe?preadd=action&key=95091), but they say they are unavailable. I called Mossberg and they confirmed that they are discontinued and suggested that I check the aftermarket. I haven't been able to find anything in the aftermarket. I improvised something wtih some wood putty, and I'm shooting it better now, but the wood putty is now falling apart. I've been out chukar hunting with it and I know that it is going to come apart on me soon, so I've got to figure something out. Any idea if/where I can find some shims to adjust my stock? I can't believe that Mossberg doesn't make these anymore... I'm sure a gunsmith could figure something out, but I can't afford much right now and I hate to put much money into this gun as I plan to upgrade next year. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jeff
