Mossberg 590 problems??

I have a Mossberg 590-A1 with the Marinecoat finish. I love the gun because it is rugged and can withstand the weather very well. The first three times I took it out to shoot it ran flawlessly. However the last time I took it I had problems. Remington and Federal birdshot, buckshot, and slugs cycled perfectly. However I tried to shoot some Winchester Turkey loads and after every shot I could barely pull the pump down. It required putting the stock on the ground and pulling it down with both hands. I figured I had a bad batch of ammo. The next time I went shooting my friend had Winchester birdshot, and I had picked up a value pack of Winchester buckshot. Again Federal, Remington, and Fiocchi cycled fine but neither the Winchester birdshot or buckshot would cycle.

I bought the shotgun because it was suppose to be so reliable. It has two large extractors and should eject without problems. Does anyone else have any information about this? My friend had a Browning BPS so we got it out and it ejected all of the Winchester rounds with ease.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some manufacturers brass sticks in my Mossberg 500 as well. I had chamber polished and it didn't help. My Mossberg 590 does not have this problem. Yes it's frustrating but reasonably easy to just avoid the one brand.

This is a fairly common problem encountered with Winchester promo loads (mostly in Remington 870's). You could try to polish the chamber, but why not just stay away from Winchester ammo? The fact that the extractors hold the base of the shell while you are putting that much pressure on it confirms that it is a rugged design.

It has to do with the metal heads on the hulls expanding and sticking when fired - some guns just don't like the Winchesters. Polishing the chamber might help, but it sometimes takes giving up on the Winchester ammo.

Apparently Winchester either doesn't read the gun boards, or they just don't care that their ammo is causing problems beyond average.

The cheap Winchester hulls, like the value packs, Universals, etc, are junk. Stick to cheap Federals/Remingtons/Rio/Estate/anything else.

Winchester Universals are universally crap. Federal is my choice. No problems, ever.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to shoot a bunch of fiocchi, remington, and federal next time just to make sure I don't have any reliability problems with any of them. I like the low recoil Fiocchi buckshot because my wife can handle them okay. They seem to be pretty good shells.
