Mossberg 600AT

Hi Guys,
I have a Mossberg 600AT that was my grandfathers. I have used it hunting Whitetail for the last 10 years at least and had some questions.
Im not able to find much info on this gun on the net. It has a fairly long barrel 28" i think and I would like to get a 24" rifled barrel but want to make sure that it is the correct one for the gun. Is this model compatible with the Mossberg 500 series?

Also ever since I can remember the safety has been broken. It doesnt stay in the locked position. it slides up and down real easy. Now i grew up shooting this gun and its 2nd nature to always make sure it on safe and that i hold it in safe if im going through thick brush or anywhere that something might move it out of position. i dont even think about it half the time, my grandfather made it very clear about gun safety lol. My question is is this something I would be able ot fix on my own or should i take it to a gunsmith and let them handle it?

And one last question.. Is there a Ghost ring sight available for this weapon? It has a bead sight on it and i was thinking about changing that out for a fiber optic for low light shooting but would prefer a ghost ring if possible.

Same gun . I think the 600 was a New Haven (store brand) but it is the same gun as the Mossberg 500.

Any 500 barrel will fit as long as it was made for that length magazine tube . The extended magazine tube versions took a different barrel.

The safety detent ball is likely gone out of the safety . That and broken safety buttons are not that uncommon. The ball is spring loaded and is staked into the receiver so it would be better to let someone familiar do that part. It's not hard, but you should have a staking tool to do it. You might get by with just sitting the ball on top of the spring and capturing it with the safety plate/button. It is best to stake it in however.

Ghost ring sites can be purchased from Mossberg but I believe they require the front sight to be sweated on - generaly a job for a smith .
