So if all goes well and I am approved for my dick's credit card I will be using vit on a 930 SPX 18" autoloading 12GA. it has rifle-type sights, which for me is a huge plus, a small picatinny/weaver rail on top of hte receiver, whatever, has a full length tube, and is all black synthetic. I have been thinking about it nonstop since last night, what's everyone elses experience been? it definitely spanks the crap out of the other mossberg's i've handled in regard to fit and finish, and the configuration is exactly what I want.

the gun will be used for HD, plinking/unorganized fun, and whatever else comes up. the alternative is a mossberg persuader in desert camo with a 20" barrel and full length tube, not bad at all but if i get the card i will have the 930.

Mine has been great!!!

Congrats on the gun!!!

Give it a good cleaning and lube before you take it out the 1st time.

Have fun and start saving for ammo, it's so much fun to shoot and recoil is so managable, it get's addicting.

really? that's awesome, I love the way it felt, the persuader was alright too but like the salesman said, if you're going to buy something, why not just buy it once? I can't wait to get the response from the card company

Who Paid what

for the SPX?

I have been looking at them as-well. My LGS has one but I don't have anything to compare it to price wise.

579 is what dick's has on the sticker. seems like a reasonable price for it to me, what's everyone else's price?

Hmmm, I dont think I remember seeing the 930 SPX, i'll have to look that up :D

I paid $575, out the door...

They are $549.98 at the Dick's around here...

Here's a pic:

it's a gorgeous gun and I want it now! that door breaching cage, while practically useless, I think would be a pretty sweet addition to it. except from now on I'll call it a "muzzle protector". Is it expensive to have a barrel threaded, and are those cages available on their own

IF, and it's a very big if, Mossberg ever sells the complete "Breacher" barrel for the 930 it will probably be around $200, retail.

I'm just guessing on the price, I based it on the price difference between the 18-1/2" "Breacher" barrel for the 870 pump and the "standard" 18-1/2" barrel, its about a $65 difference. The "standard" 930 18-1/2" barrel is $156...

The screw-on option is probably the least expensive way to go....

Or, just buy one of each!

Smitty,

That just made my head hurt. Two threads same subject comes up. I thought I had gotten myself deleted.

I know it's almost too Geck45-ish, but I still like that hideous breaching cage. but I wouldn't be willing to give up the ghost ring sights, because it will be my first shotgun and I'm not too familiar with shotguns. so having sights I am already used to will be very helpful.

I believe this is my first post here, so greetings All.

I received an e-mail from R&R Arms, Inc. this morning -- they have one in stock now for $530.99 here.

if i hadn't bought the FN SLP, almost identical twins except for the safety, i'd be all over this...the FN was close to $800

but i do like the FN...i just bought it's larger brother...the SLP Mk-1, 2" longer barrel and 2 extra rounds

The Deer Hunter said:
...You should put a clamp on the magazine extension and barrel...

Why?? I've abused mine and it hasn't come loose or moved at all...

The only reasoon to add a clamp is if you want to add a light mount or if you need to add a swivel mount...

For a quality/affordable tube-fed semi, the 930SPX is my first choice followed by the Rem. 1187 Police model.

-Cheers

followed by the Rem. 1187 Police model.

i'd go the FN SLP route before the 11-87. the Rem is a nice gun and has a long track record of service, but the design is dated.

also the SLP shoots faster...faster even than the Benelli...and just as soft

thanks for the feedback all, and those of you with ghost ring sighted shotguns, how do you like that setup?

for me, the ghost ring sights are at least as fast as a bead or vent rib and beads. it is much faster and just as accurate as rifle sights...they align faster.

i would say that ghost ring sights are only matched in speed, combined with accuracy, by a red dot...and that's only because youcan hit with a red dot without properly shouldering the gun
