Mossberg 930

I am considering the Mossberg 930 for home defense (combo) and for use at IDPA side matches. I don't really care for the tactical sights on the 930 SPX and would like the gun to be a little more versatile...The 930 HD combo comes with two barrels and it's less costly than the SPX also. My question: Any reason I wouldn't be able to add a mag extension to the 930 home defense (18 1/2" barrel)? Thanks in advance!

You can buy the same mag extention that is supplied with the 930SPX here from Choate Machine:

Choate makes the Magazine tube extensions for the Mossberg 930. They have them listed on their website. The Choate Mossberg 9200/5500 tubes will fit but not well. They will either be to short or to long. You need to get the one made for the 930 with a 18.5".

Great question Kevin, I also wandered if the mag extension had some sort of hangup like those on Rem 870s. Does this thing from Choate just screw on the Mossberg 930 or do you need a Dremel and a few hours alone?

The Choate tubes work well for me. I have them on several shotguns. Mossberg trust them because the factory tube ext on the SPX is made by Choate.

Just got the 930 HS on gunbroker...$400. Decided against the combo (don't care for 28" barrel). I may add a 24" barrel later if I can find one. Next I need to buy the Choate mag extension...woohoo!!!
