Mossberg and MKS end sales to Dick's sporting goods.

Yes, Dicks could sell over priced stuff to soccer moms. However, they just spent millions opening a lot of their Field and Stream stores. Those will not survive if you want a hunting/fishing store but don't sell hunting stuff.
They put one in by me about within the last few years. It's the only big box "outdoor" type store (other than dicks) around here. Everything else is an hour plus away from Albany . Bass pro Utica being the closest. It's way over hyped and over priced. When the store opened people couldnt wait to check it out. Turns out It's a wanna be cabelas (and Cabela's is over hyped IMO too), their gun counter guys (except one that I have talked to) suck, selection isn't very good, and prices are high. I bought one gun off them because I had a credit card and gift cards for them. I haven't set foot in there since January, and don't plan on it ever again. After the crap theyre pulling I hope most gun manufactures pull out and their field and stream store flops hard. At this rate all that's going to be left is Remington's because they need to sell every last gun they can to get their butts out of the hole they are in.

ive never been a fan of DSG. I bought a Marlin 336 from there 5 or 6 years ago because it was on sale around hunting season. Their hunting/fishing section is a joke anyway. Every gun was a solid 5-10% higher than any other place, their ammo selection is paltry and they didn't stock pistol caliber ammo short of 9mm.

Academy moved in and killed our Gander Mountain. I think it may have put pressure on DSG as it moved to a different location, but that's speculation on my part. Regardless, Academy gets my business. Great ammo prices with lots of "flavors" of bullet type/weight. I may have to pick up the Shockwave I've had my eye on for some time.

The only thing I ever bought at a Dick's was a pair of binoculars that were marked down due to open package. And that was back in the '90s. I haven't been in one since.

One thing to just want out of the firearms business. However, it's brought to another level when they hire anti-gun lobbyists to work for gun control. At that point, they are no longer a business with a different opinion, they are the opposition.

There is no public statement if you quietly op out of the firearms industry, but should you decide to make a Librettist Statement you could elect to publish that you hired anti-gun activists to forward the Mission Statement of your Corporation. So if I never purchase a Starbucks of Seattle Coffee, or any other product in a Dicks Sporting Goods store, they can display their wares to the folks they have perceived as perennial customers. But I must declare, don't ever GOOGLE the simple term "DICKS" should you wish to purchase anything from Dick's Sporting Goods. Perhaps Googling Dicks is more closely related to the Mission Statement of the current Dicks Sporting Goods! JMHO.

I'm less than 10 minutes from a Cabela's, 15 minutes from a Dick's, 20 minutes from Bass Pro and 2 more Dick's, 25 minutes from Academy and Scheel's, and 45 minutes of another Bass Pro. And those are just the big box sporting goods stores. Add a bunch of LGS and "kitchen table" FFL's into the mix and I have zero reason to walk into a Dick's Sporting goods. I don't think I've been in a DSG in 10 years or more, and I'm not likely to ever go back now, regardless of how good of a deal they offer.

I received a gift card for Field & Stream/Dicks. I used part of It in January. When I went back to clear it out, it was after their policy change. They wanted $400 over a Savage $1400 list price for a specific rifle. Their shoes were outrageously priced. Ammo pricing was insulting as well. I bought some overpriced single stack magazines. I doubt I will return.

The last thing I bought from Dick's sporting goods was a Remington 870 several years ago. Which was sold to pay bills. I would boycott them but can't since I don't waste any money there anyway.

I've been saying this for years. You buy from the big box stores like Walmart or even sporting goods chains like Dick's and you put your local shops out of business. Then all it takes is a political decision by a faceless board of directors and they stop selling firearms altogether. There's greed on both ends. Support those who support the sport. So what if it costs a little more, it's a worthy long term investment.

I agree. There is also often a problem with employees who know nothing about firearms. I had a horrible experience with a local wally world and vowed NEVER buy anything gun related from them. Local shops usually have knowledgeable people working there and are able to provide superior service. I try to frequent local gun stores whenever I can.

Many cut off Dick's:

Industry response was swift after documents filed on April 27 with the Clerk of the House Representatives and Secretary of the Senate surfaced that showed Dick’s Sporting Goods has hired The Glover Park Group to engage in “lobbying related to gun control.” The move came only a few weeks after the big-box retailer made headlines by enacting a chain-wide policy allowing only those 21 and older to purchase firearms, removal of all modern sporting arms and standard-capacity magazines from its 35-store Field & Stream chain and, ultimately, destruction of those guns instead of seeking refunds from distributors or manufacturers.

Good for Mossberg!

I just picked up my first Mossy. The 590 Shockwave.

I'll have to send some more business their way.
