TM,
How much is a new A1 if you don't mind me asking? I wanted one but found them way too expensive compared to my $330 590.

DAVIDSDIVAD,

The finish on my 590A1 is the factory parkerizing. The receiver is darker than the barrel and mag tube as it is aluminum and the barrel and mag tube are steel.
My 835 has a mixture of finishes. The factory matte blue is on the receiver and mag tube. The barrel is a polished blue and the mag extension is more of a matte black.....

Here is the 590A1 I just sold:

I kept the rail and Comp, it went to the buyer in this config w/GRS:

I loved the A1, it was a hell of a gun. I sold it for two reasons:
1- Needed the money for home projects.
2- I always found it to be very heavy.

Well, there is a 3rd reason... I bought these two Arsenals in the span of 1 month...

Another question:

I see in some of the photo's posted, the front sling swivel is on the mag tube cap.
I've seen a few others where the front sling swivel is on the bayo lug.

Where is it on your 590?

which 590s come with the front sling lug? all of them?

i know the mossberg 500 watchdog doesn't come with one...

i also noticed that no one has both a surefire front grip and a sling hahaha

Admittedly the Surefire forend does interfere with the sling mount. But, I don't like a sling on the shotgun for HD use anyway. So, personally it's not an issue for me.

yeah i was just noting, good to know that it doesn't interfere though, it looks like it would severely.

I think it both the front of the mag cap and the rear of the bayonet lug were threaded for the sling stud on my 590.

I cant verify since I ground the bayonet lug off.

It didnt on mine, but I didnt have the sling on it for very long.

Well I picked one up at auction guys, 350 is what I got it for, its a little used but hardly I would consider it and it was listed at 98% and its got all the goodies including the speedfeed stock, just need to add a side saddle and a top picatinny rail and I am set. My friend and I were out at the range yesterday with it and we brought the good'ol shot time out found out I can clear nine rounds on target and using the sights in about 3.83 seconds average.

I really like my Mossberg. It's a 500SP, the 'breacher' model with the 590 mag tube. I put a Hogue stock on it in place of the pistol grip.

I took it to a skeet shoot today and folks lined up to shoot it. Every time you pull the trigger it sounds like a grenade going off! Some Fun!!

I'm using one of these for the front sling attachment, except it's the one for the 590:

Mossberg says you can't put a heat shield on it with the factory ghost rings since the front sight is not removable

I've heard this too....

I think it's funny how the Mossberg Website features an operator with a 590 with GS and a Heat Shield.:banghead:

My 590 is the 20" 8+1 GRS without the Speed-Feed stock.

I haven't had a single problem with it during the six years I've owned and shot it.

Best 00-Buck load I have shot out of it is Federal Vital-Shok Low Recoil w/ FliteControl wad (#PFC143 00LR).

It patterns extremely well for a Cylinder bore.

My front swivel is angled back from the bayo lug.

This 590 was my first shotgun and I have really treated it poorly. But, it still works fine like the day I bought it. It had a Houge stock but it got crushed and snapped after something large fell on it... replaced it with some old 500 wood furniture that appear to be from two different guns that I got for cheap.

Anyhow, like my 870s I would not hesitate to recommend it.:D
