No, first I’ve seen of it. I must say that’s a really nice looking lever gun!

I’ve always wanted a trapper .30-30 as my UTV scabbard gun, the Mossberg sure looks like it’ll fit that bill perfectly.

Stay safe

Very interesting. I've also never touched one. Although I've heard favorable comments in general about the Mossberg lever guns. If the OP gets that I'd love to hear some of his reactions to it.

Thanks for bringing in this up. I would like to try one out. Weather resistant lever guns seem to be pretty hard to come by.

Got one in trade from a friend and sold on consignment at my LGS. Didn't get to shoot it due to a lack of ammo(long story), but it was incredibly handy in size. The finish seemed very durable, if a little rough. Nice stock set, overall very good looking and comfortable to handle. Action seemed smooth enough, and I'm sure break in would smooth it even more. The fiber optic sights were awesome! Alas, mine sold for stupid money before I got better acquainted...

Looks like there available for $500-$600 no to bad these days, believe these are just a Winchester angle eject copy.

Is the coating a cericoat painted type finish or is it a type of chrome plateing?

Just when I am considering selling a bunch of my guns you come up with this. Here is positive review on the gun and also a link to some for sale on GB for $599. And there are several from the seller all at a fixed price. No back and forth bidding on an auction. This is the first gun I have seen in a while that makes me want one. I love lever actions and the 30-30 round.

I was curious as to what rifling Mossberg used in their barrels and could not find an answer on any of the reviews or the Mossberg website. So I called them and the fellow who answered the phone said it was not the Micro-Groove but conventional rifling which I prefer so I can shoot lead bullets. So far this gun is looking better and better.

Looking at the trigger it appears to be a casting. So I am assuming all the internal parts are also castings. That doesn't matter to me but it might to some who have a fetish about using MIM parts.

Far as i know, every new lever rifle on the market except the exorbitant Winchester's has multiple cast complements

It is Ceracoat finish.

It sounds like its more than just Cerakote which can wear through pretty quick from what I have read. Here is one definition I found.

"Mossberg's proprietary Marinecote finish: an innovative Talfon and nickel formula which penetrates into the pores of the metal to provide protection you can count on".

I have an H&R Tamer shotgun that has a Matt Nickle type finish on it and if the Mossberg finish is anything like it it should be a very durable, long lived coating.

I meant a Ceracoat type finish, as opposed to blueing. Thanks for finding the real answer for us. It is just like the h&r finish in look and feel.

Teflon and Nickel polymer blends are a very strong finish ! If you look at the action the bolt is round , it's not like a a Winchester 94 bolt. I bought a Mossberg MVP Scout rifle in .308 (which takes M14 mags OR AR10 Magpuls ! !!!) and am astonished with the workmanship ! I guess good Conn. firearm builders are alive and well. I have a sneaking suspicion that people who got laid of at Colt, Winchester and a few others are working there now and EXPERIENCE counts !

I just won the auction on this gun. It says used but appears to have not been fired. All the guns I had on my watch list that were $600 to $700 all sold but no one bid on this gun. I got it for the opening price of $500. The seller won't be back in town until the 28th of this month so it will be the first part of August before I get the gun but thats OK. I can't believe no one else bid on it. It comes with the box and all the paperwork. I feel like I got a deal.

i think I was looking at that one, I thought it was weird no bids were placed. If I had the money think I'd went for it.

Yep I'm puzzled no one else bid. It does look like the previous owner stained the checkered portion of the wood stocks with a brown stain. Kinda weird but as long as the gun works and is decently accurate I don't care. At 35.5" long this should make a fantastic brush and woods gun. In one article by Brian Pearce he stated he lost about 17fps per inch of barrel so a load that gets 2000fps from a 20" barrel should still get 1925fps or so. I doubt the deer will ever know the difference.

I gave a lot of thought to getting a Ruger Compact Rifle in 308 for the same uses but this gun will do the same job just fine. And its considerably cheaper to boot.
