MOSSBERG MAVERICK SHOTGUN any good?

i only need a shotgun a couple times a year for hunting. i like the price. are they reliable?

I have not had any problems with mine. I contacted Mossberg and inquired about getting a rifled slug barrel and they said the mod 535 would fit it. Now just to figure if I want to spend the money on another barrel or just buy a slug gun. Bob

I have owned & operated a Maverick 88 since 1990.

It was a bit 'rough' right out of the box, but a couple of hundred rounds through it smoothed it up very well.

I have also put as much game on the table as my brothers with their pricier Rem 870 & 1100.

I don't run thousands of rounds a year through mine, but it goes BOOM! on request, every time.

A very good friend has a Maverick 88, and I've got a Mossberg 500. Both have been fired quite a few times. He and I usually shoot shotguns together, and if we switch guns, I wouldn't even notice if it weren't for the safeties being in different positions.

I have had mine for a year now. I have put ~1000 rounds through it w/o a problem. For $200, its an excellent value.
