Mossberg MVP extractor issue

Hey all,

I have a Mossberg MVP Patrol in 556.

Haven't shot it yet, so I am perhaps worried about my problem prematurely.

I have been cycling some rounds just to make sure the mags and bolt are working properly. It appears if I cycle the bolt quickly, the extractor sometimes fails to eject the round. It sort of just sits there loose in the chamber. If I go real slowly, the extractor grabs the casing and launches it like its supposed to.

I first assumed it was a cleaning issue. I sprayed the gun with some break-free, then lubed it appropriately. Same issue, but it appears to be getting better.

I know these guns have had some extractor issues, but honestly the extractor looks to be in good shape. It just misses a round every few depending how fast I cycle the bolt.

So my question is, is this due to an extractor issue or a standard breaking in issue. I don't see how firing the weapon will affect the extractor, but I might be ignorant on that part.

Any recommendations? Has anyone had this issue?

What ammo are you using? Mine works perfectly with any brass ammo, but steel cases sometimes dont want to eject very far. I chalk it up to poor quality ammo in my specimen, since its 100% perfect with brass cased.

I am cycling right now only. But I am using standard 55 grain brass cased federal 556.

It seems hit or miss. Like one round every 10 or so just stays in the chamber.

I've never had extraction issues with my MVP Varmint. But it did ship from the factory with a bolt face full of dried grease. It took a good deal of scrubbing with Hoppes #9 and a toothbrush to clean it out of all the nooks and crannies.
