There has been a kazillion posts about the MVP. Wanted to add my two cents. Its is an interesting rifle. I finally I choose to get myself one. Picked it up this morning. The guy selling it was including 30 round P-mags with it and was nice enough to leave it out of the box for me. Can't have one of those.

First thing I noticed is that it was light. Handled well. Bolt cycled a little rough, trigger little heavy but not too bad for out the box. Put the mag in the well. Its a five round Magpul. Had to smack it home because it wouldn't seat. Then it wouldn't release. Stupid mag well and release. I had to push the release with a punch to get it to come out. Lesson learned p-mags won't work unless I do something. Grabed a five rounder that I had in my collection. Not sure who makes it. It fit like it was made specific for it. I hit the release and out it came.

I had already purchased metal replacements for the trigger guard and the mag well. They came in Saturday. NO INSTRUCTIONS. Way to go Tromix. When no instructions, hit the youtube. Found a video to watch. Some fitting to be done, but nothing out of the ordinary. Finally got the magwell apart and the release out so I could put it in the Tromix one. It fit pretty good in the metal one.

Put the rifle back together. The p-mag still gets stuck and the metal one works great. I like the metal parts much better. Something to consider Mossberg? Hope your paying attention.

I ordered a scope and mount from Amazon last Friday. I actually ordered two Vortex Crossfire 3x9 scopes. Nothing special scope wise. Also ordered a DNZ mount. I paid extra to have it arrive on Saturday. Saturday came and NO scopes. I checked my account and it said they were getting my order ready. So I cancelled the order. Ordered from Midway at the same price. Will be in Thursday. Go because if I can, I am going to head to the range for some overdue shooting.

Anyone else have an MVP? Impressions?

I have the varmint version with the heavier laminate stock and a 24” barrel. It’s very accurate with Hornady 55gr SP. I like it, but it is heavy.

I have a Thunder Ranch in 223. Mine Is 100% reliable with 10 and 20 rd Pmags, but didn't work with the metal 10 rounder that came with the gun. I fire mine suppressed with either 75 grain Hornady BTHP or 77 grain Black Hills MK 262. Either round will produce 1 MOA or smaller groups. Several deer and turkey have fallen cleanly to this rifle/ammo combo.

Thanks. After I wrote this up, I made three dummy rounds to testing feeding. All three fed just fine with the metal five rounder that I found fits well. Wonder why FL-NC's P-Mags seat nicely in the mag well and the P-Mag that came from the factory with mine doesn't. I will look at this closely to see if I can find the reason.

I finally got this to the range today. Been a bit. I replaced the plastic mag well and trigger guard with metal ones. Couldn't get used to the plastic. Mounted a 3x9x40 Viper Scope with a DNZ Mount. Found that mags even the one that came with the rifle come out and in easier with the bolt back. Maybe it is in the manual somewhere to do that, but who reads those.

I sighted it in at 25 yards petty quickly in about five rounds. I then moved out to 200 yards. 25 and 100 are about the same with the load I am using. With 200 yards being -2.8 inches according to my calculations. There were others are the range so I didn't place any 200 or 100 yard targets. I did shoot about 100 rounds at 200 yards and at an 12 x 12 steel plate. It was easy. So I can't say if I got a shooter or not. Ding, ding, ding until it got boring.

The bolt was much easier the more rounds that went through it. Much smoother. The trigger needs a little help and the bolt even smoother is not as smooth as an out of the box 700. So far its a keeper. Can't complain. Not a bad rifle for the price.

I bought a used one a couple years ago, I had been wanting one for a while.
I replaced the magwell, and seems to work fine.
I have a cheap scope on it, but I'm thinking about taking that off and just keep it light and simple.
I think they are a good looking rifle, and they handle pretty well.
