Most accurate autoloader?

What is the most accurate autoloader you've fired?

At what range?

At 15 feet (5 yards), I've never missed cutting the bullseye with my RG-25 .25 ACP pistol. It inevitably stovepipes the last round so you better get the job done in five rounds, but within its limitations, it has been a very accurate, easily concealed, very satisfying pistol that I am convinced has saved my life on more than one occasion.

If we're talking distances longer than across the bedroom of a suburban house then the best thing to do with my little RG would probably be to throw it at your assailant or use it to pistol whip him.

I can't say what is the most accurate autoloader I've fired is, but if you really want to know, go to a large regional 2700 Bullseye match and see what the winners are shooting. That would be your answer for the real world in the hands of a highly skilled shooter.

I have a Colt Gold Cup that was worked over by a .45 only gunsmith.
With the right loads it will put 10 shots inside of 3 inches at 50 yards.
Off of a machine rest, of course.

I suck at shooting any of my handguns so I really do not think about my handgun accuracy beyond combat and plinking accuracy. However, there was one handgun where I just couldn't believe how I could just aim and fire at any target and that target would fall or make a dinging sound and that was a Makarov in .380acp. Yet another gun I regret selling, but i sold it to someone that was originally on the anti-gun side of things. I am sure my Ruger MKIII is accurate as are my Colt Woodsmans. I am not.

Wally makes a very good point

On the bullseye pistol site custom gunsmith Larry Lautenegger had this to say: "When I test stock guns (all at 50 yards), they shoot groups from 4" (very rarely) to 14", most falling between 6" and 12"."

A bullseye pistol needs hold 3" or less at 50 yards

( At any range compared to pistols you've shot at that distance.)

The subjective nature of it was made manifest to me when I shot my Star Firestar .40 after a long absence. I had concluded it was pretty inaccurate, then a few years later it amazed me for it's accuracy. I think there are ways to even out the "good" days from the lousy one's, but I've not taken the time. The Kimber 1911 I had was very accurate, almost all days, but I sold it. My DW Marksman should be very accurate but I've not done any comparison shooting. (What?) I was given a Ruger MkIII target which I modified a lot and it is now very accurate.

I think a good way to check would be to fire a course with each handgun on the same day, mark targets and do that again for a week. That should show me which gun is the most accurate in my hands by group size average.

Ruger MK II 10". I have several. They all shoot better groups at 50 yards than the average .22 rifle.

Colt Gold Cup National Match...from a sandbag at 25 yard, it easily will shoot a mag full with all holes touching.

Hard to pick just one, but some of my most accurate autoloaders are below. While I own many very accurate rimfires, I'll keep my entries to centerfire because I find them much more interesting.

Simply Wow, what a fantastic collection of target pistols! You could probably shoot one a day for three or four months and not shoot the same gun twice! A big thank you for the trip through Wundpistole Wunderland!

My Makarov PM has been extremely accurate. It's fixed barrel blowback design aids in that, and controllable recoil allows for accurate followup shots. These guns might be "Cold War antiques" to some, but they are well known to be more accurate than they have any right to be and my personal experience actually shooting these pistols confirms that.
