So I was cruising Cabot's website today and ran across this beautiful work of art, the 2015 Black Diamond Deluxe Limited Edition. Yes, it is $11,950 dollars and yes, if I had the money I would buy it. So all I want to know is, money aside, can anyone think of a more beautifully made gun? I mean look at that bluing. S&W aint got nothing on that.. AND, how many people would actually have the balls to take this thing on a range trip?

It's a beauty no doubt. Love those grips especially.

So is that Liga Privada T52 cigar beside it. I have one of those in my humidor right now. :)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... I think the grips are kinda ugly and the trigger is too gaudy with the star cut-outs. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!

Otherwise, yeah, it's pretty.

Well.... It's nice. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Honestly, I'll take my 1982 production Browning Hi-Power.

I came in thinking "if it is a Glock, I swear to God..."

Leaving impressed. Its a nice looking piece. 'most beautiful' though, probably has to go to a revolver of some kind. Something like a Smith and Wesson .44 Russian or some such.

The grips look a little too much like the yogurt-covered granola bar I ate last night.

The trigger doesn't really do it for me either.

With my current budget im doing good to buy my Marlboro's, little on Liga Privada's and my old Johnny Walker Blue Label

Oh HECK yes. I was expecting a really beautifully engraved and gold inlaid gun, not a plain finished 1911 with fancy grips for a crazy price. I've OWNED better looking guns, if a factory engraved Smith 29 counts, and I certainly think it does. Even some etched (not hand engraved) can be nicer than a plain finished gun, no matter how nice the blue on that plain gun. Guess its just a matter of personal taste. Not meaning to rag, but you asked a specific question.

In looking for examples of engraved guns I came up with a simple search result, which pretty much all examples stand out as art.

Many things on Hamilton Bowens site qualifies as art also.

Yeah I'm not buying many these days.
I picked that one up in Panama City. There's a really nice cigar shop there and they carry the Liga Privada stuff. My local shop doesn't. I picked up 3 sticks total for $45, which is about normal for those.
I drink cheap scotch too. lol

I think that Cabot 1911 is hideous. B2Tall is right, the grips look like a granola bar. The star trigger is tacky, doesn't go with the rest of the design at all, look like something you'd find on a gun with American flag grips, and the roll marks clash horribly with everything else, even the shape of the gun. The only thing I like about it is the deep black finish.

That pretty much sums up my feelings exactly. Plus anyone who puts 3-dot sights on a gun of this level deserves a straight jacket.

As always though, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Doesn't do a thing for me either.

I would much rather have an Ed Brown Signature Edition for $4 grand less!

Most Beautiful Gun Ever??
My tastes run much simpler than that, so it does not appeal to me other than its 1911 origins. Just too tarted-up for me ... looks like something best left behind glass.

I have a lot of beautiful (to me ;)) firearms, none of which I would hesitate to take with me on a walk around the farm or on a bad-weather hunting/camping trip.

I don't think I'd go so far as to say hideous, but this more or less reflects my sentiments.

I think almost any Wilson Combat blued 1911, or any pinned, recessed, and blued pre-lock S&W revolver in new condition are all way nicer looking than that.

Sure, why not? It's a gun. I shoot guns. So.........

Well my "mortal brain can't fathom" the asking price for this particularly underwhelming 1911. The Mammoth teeth grips remind me of a Pop Tart with frosting drizzled over it, the Tristar cut-outs on the trigger look horribly tacky, there's no engraving or custom inlays, and even the polishing and bluing appear a little suspect upon closer examination.

Yeah and the hyperbole is a little deep too, like in I need hip waders to get through the ad copy: "Staring into the endless abyss of black ingrained into the frame and slide, hours can be lost attempting to comprehend the overcoming awe of your eye's deception". Who writes this stuff?

Actually I was lost in a couple of seconds just trying to comprehend most of this over-inflated nonsense.

And all this can be yours for the unbelievable asking price of $11,950. I would pass on it even if it was priced at $1,950.

Hate the star cuts on the trigger, hate the grips, hate the roll mark on the dust cover

Really hate the price

That about sums it up for me too.

$11,000 plus?

YOU CANT CARRY $11 GRAND WORTH OF GUNS IN YOUR HAND! :banghead: :banghead:

Well Maybe my Sig 1911 TTT and $10,000.00 cash cushioning the finish in my hand! :p:D
