Most Beautiful Gun Ever??

Hey All,
Just wanted to quickly chime in as this thread was brought to our attention. Please note what you are looking at on the gun is NOT the finish but rather oil on the gun which was not obviously wiped down properly.

I assumed tarosean was talking about the fitting of the grip safety as opposed to the drops of oil.

I have seen much better on this forum. It is a nice looking gun, but IMO not the best looking gun ever. To me that would be the 30mm Cannon on the A-10 Warthog, or a classic Gatling Gun.

How does 10,000 rounds per minute of 30mm rounds at 3000fps each strike ya?

The finish bests any Colt ever sent out, and that's high praise!

Otherwise; kindy gaudy, something you'd wear to a BBQ in Texas.....:p

The most beautiful gun ever to me would have to be a between the WW's Drilling or Vierling.

Not so sure about that - Colt Royal Blue (not mine, but I believe the owner is a THR member...). In its simplicity, this may be a contender for the most beautiful 1911.

There are a lot of beautiful guns in the world. Sorry but I think the one the OP mentioned is a bit gawdy. I don't care for the grips or the trigger. But we all have our individual tastes.

I've always been partial to shotguns when it comes to beauty. I guess that's because I grew up seeing some really beautiful guns being brought to our back yard trap range. Here's an example of one I think isn't over the top but still looks very nice.

But lately I've been partial to rifles. Like this one.

I like clean looking stuff obviously but I've seen some ornate stuff I really like. I even like some of the composite stock rifles being sold like this one:

Yes I know it probably won't look that good after a few years but it looks pretty good IMO. It's not top grade walnut but I like it anyway. I have a Marlin 60SS that I think is a nice looking rifle too.

But I do believe the Sako is the best looking firearm I've seen around. There are many more contenders though. I like a lot of different guns. I don't even think that 60SS is the best looking rifle I own. That would be my CZ 453.

Well, I said why I didn't care much for the Cabot, but I didn't say what I think is the best looking handgun ever.

You have go back a ways to the 1860 Colt Army Revolver. Talk about graceful, flowing lines.

I'm with you CajunBass; nothing can match the clean stylish lines of the Colt Model 1860.

I've always thought the Cabot 1911s were clear evidence that money doesn't buy taste. They are tacky and overdone.

I just took some photos recently of one of my prettiest:

Certainly guns that are highly embellished are beautiful works of art. However, for the beauty of simplicity, nothing beats a deep rich blue. Ruger, who isn't known for it finely finished blue did produce a GP100 with a finish intended to rival that of Colt's Python. It is perhaps the most beautifully finished Ruger ever and is known as the Royal Phoenix.

It's pretty alright. I had cimarron that was master blued and just as pretty if certainly not the same quality. That said if anyone paid eleven grand for it, I'd mark him down as a complete banking idiot in my book of morons. Nice yes. But not 11k nice.

MR73, hands down. After shooting nice Smiths, a Colt, and a Ruger, nothing beats the Manurhin's double action, and the single action is practically a rifle trigger it is so short and light. Haven't shot a Korth yet, but more than one fellow who have had the chance still say the Frenchy is a better shooter. Mine's a shot to pieces police trade in, and still the nicest trigger in the collection (beats a modern PC S&W as well as a Mateba, in both single and.doubke action). The original finish was at least as good as Colt's, with more classic looks.

+1! I posted in the original thread for this particular Colt that it is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Next to the wife, of course. Although in another 20 years, that Colt might even have the edge in that comparison....

Heh? Heh? I believe this was another Clark "meltdown" from a member here;

'Bout as pretty a 'bubba-job' as I've ever seen done to a pistol ;). The bluing was so good, I was "transfixed" for a thousand years or whatever that BS ad-copy on the Cabot said :D

Love that melted look. Beautiful gun.

The more I think about it the more I like the looks of this old rifle that would be lucky to bring $75 at auction. It means a lot to me and it makes it look better as a result of that. Some important people in my life owned this gun before I did even though I've had it for 35 years. It was willed to my dad by a guy who was our own private Santa Claus. We were poor and he didn't have a family so he adopted ours. He ate dinner with my grandmother every night. Her house was the only other one within miles of where we lived. He showered us with gifts from bubblegum daily to a present for everyone when it was anyone's birthday to a mountain of presents at Christmas. My brother hunted squirrels with this rifle for 12 years or more when dad still owned it. When my brother grew up and moved out and I followed him a year or two later dad decided he didn't need so many guns any more since he didn't have a house full of boys. So this one became mine and it will be in my family until heck freezes over if I have anything to say about it.

Simple, durable, flexible, and reliable. Plus it's crazy accurate. It's a Stevens 15-B single shot. They don't make them like this any more. Decent wood but not walnut. Blued steel that looks nearly perfect. It could be restored to look brand new without too much hassle but that would ruin it IMO.
