Most Economical Loads

I'm not sure where all these crazy numbers are coming from for loading the .223 but with current component prices you can load a round for just under 28¢. That is a cost of $5.37/box of 20. Nowhere but nowhere are you going to find factory ammo for that price.

What components and sites did you use to put that together?

SW Tactical Rifle and AR +: $30/lb at LGS. For practice ammo both should cycle with minimum charges of 18 and 19 grains respectively, with velocity around 2400 fps. A little tuning may be needed to get the accuracy I want.

Primers: $7.50/100 at LGS or $6/100 at Sportsman's Warehouse when I pass by for work.

Projectiles: $0.11/bullet from RMR or $0.10/bullet from Midsouth on sale, both for 55 grain FMJ.

Range brass for cases. Deprimed, acid bath cleaned/pickled, sized, trimmed and primer crimp swaged out. Takes some time but the only part I don’t like is trimming.
