most expensive gun you have actually been able to touch

I held a late 1800s or early 1900s (Nobody really know) double barrel muzzle loader shot gun of unknown origins with gold filled artistic groves with some type of laminate over that. It had never been fired. Est value 8-9 years ago was approx. $50,000 by a gun collector but nobody can identify the gun. I got him tickets to the antique road show but he never went to get its est. valued.

I got to shoot a Smith and Wesson 500 magnum, and a Smith Performance Center 1911 with crimson trace lazer grips.

Not sure what they are worth but I was able to look over the Colt collection in the Hartford state library.

I took over a hundred pictures of some really nice Colts.

I cant say I've extensively handled anything more expensive than the high end stuff at the average gun store. Probably the most expensive I've had the chance to play with were a couple of Blaser and Perazzi 28 gauge guns each worth somewhere in the $8-12K range. I didn't get to use them them, just handle them. I guess the most expensive Ive gotten to use would be a few full auto MP5s.

Hmm...transferable MP5. At the time is was going for about $12k. Transferable M16 receiver with a bunch of goodies added on ~$15k. MG-42 ~$35k.

Most expensive I regularly shoot is my Max-11.

the top half of a Beowulf .5o cal. I REALLY NEED TO GET A LOWER ASSEMBLY! Oh and my brothers Colt AR 15 SP1, may it (the gun) rest in piece (went thru a house fire last night)

the most expensive is my dad Marlin 1881 in 45-70 2 digit serial number with no more than 60 rounds shot threw it. 95% is $2200 +315% for 45-70 and early model with serial number below 600. Total $6930

Nothing too exotic, a legal M14, don't know what it was worth but I'm sure it was more than I could afford. I did handle a $6000 folding pocket knife once...and handed it back right quick. It was a new one too, not a rare antique.

Not military hardware... just something my company was working on. It was a custom built auto loading 155mm guided projectile launcher. I did get to play around with a 16" naval gun for testing.... But that was a one shot deal.

For the ultimate toy... the gun didn't launch metal, it launched photons! Located out in the desert, we were able to target things out in orbit. Lots of fun working on that.
As for what normal things... well I only have the Barrett, and its not that expensive.

S& W 500 protype... not sure what it was worth, but alot.

Let's see. Probably Uzi and MP5 (put 50 rounds thru each...me and a friend of mine rented them at the range...probably one of the best 5 minute blocks of my life). Next to that would be the Kimbers I handled at Cabelas a few weekends ago (pretty big price jump, I know).

Brand new PSG-1, fired at an HK exhibition. I got to fire 20 rounds. Pretty cool. Gun about $10,000 then. Don't know how much now.

That easy. I guy at the range let me fondle his M60. He paid $60K+ for it. Many things class 3 are up there.

Colt SAA in nickle plate and stag handles. Belonged to a famous Texas Ranger (whose name I promptly forgot). Original estimated value was $50,000 but it was donated by the family to a museum.

A Richardson & Richardson African double rifle, which was inlaid in gold, and engraved. It had a double "bolted" safety to keep bearors from killing Ol' Bwana. I can't recall what God Awful round it shot, and I didn't dare ask How Much?

I once unknowingly handled what later turned out to be an unregistered FA MAC.

10 years in club fed is more expensive than any price tag that reads dollars and cents.

1. Colt Single Action Army .45 revolver... Serial number 1.

2. Colt 1851 Navy revolver, caliber .40 (not .36)... Also serial number 1.

Just a couple of Kreighoffs that belong to a trapshooter of my acquaintance. Never fired them, but handled one of them a bit, and mounted and swung it. It felt nice. :)

I have handled very expensive guns at collector shows. But I'm almost afraid to touch them since I know I can't afford such things. I can't remember specifically what they were... goes to show you, Way way above my price range.

Old Fuff, what is your handle over on the Colt forum?
