I'm feeling the the urge for a new handgun, but I don't want to spend any money, money is exceptionally tight, to the point that I've had to let my range membership slide for now
Yet I still want a new handgun, I have a small target range out back that I can shoot subsonic .22's in, plinking at a spinner target with my NEF .22 single shot carbine rifle, so I could probably use a .22 handgun there as well
I have a CZ-75B that's been gathering dust, I reload ammo for my .45 ACP Kimber Custom II, which makes it almost as cheap to shoot as my .22 rifles, plus, I just have more fun and shoot better with .45 anyway, it fits *my* needs better, it actually costs me more to shoot the 75B because I use commercial ammo for it
I have a decent amount of .22LR, and it's still the cheapest commercial loading out there, all I'm doing with the Kimber and the CZ is plinking anyway....
I bought the CZ almost a year ago, used for $395, I can trade it at my local gun shop for $340 in store credit, and use that credit to get myself a .22 handgun, I have my "big gun" needs covered by the Kimber .45, but I need an inexpensive, QUIET plinker, my neighbors and my sister (who has a stable with horses boarded on our property) woudn't take kindly to me plinking with the .45....
So, it comes down to this, what to do, do I trade the CZ in, even though it's a great gun, and I love it, it's accurate, reliable, and fun, but I have to drive to my local rod and gun club to shoot it, and it fires the most expensive ammo of the guns I shoot regularly, or do I keep it, and let it continue to gather dust, just because it's a nice gun and I would surely regret trading it
I could put a .22 handgun to more use, shooting it on my homemade range, it'd be a gun that'd be convenient to use and would see a lot of use, but it seems kinda' anticlimactic to sell a 9mm to get a .22, I just have more confidence in the .45 as a defensive round, so the 75B is nothing more than a high-capacity, expensive-to-shoot plinker at this point
I'm considering a Ruger Mark II, Single Six, some variety of S&W revolver, or a used Taurus Tracker .22 (stainess, 7 shot, 6.5" barrel, 98% condition, with box and manuals) as it's replacement
the only advantage the CZ-75B has over the Kimber, in the event of the inevitable Zombie Uprising, is capacity.....
