Motorcycle transporting.

A couple transport questions. The weapons in question are: Rossi break action, Mauser Sporterized bolt gun, and a 16" Collapsible AR-15. I do allot of shooting and like to carry incase a farmer's field is over run with those democratic groundhogs or the liberal coyote is out campaigning again. Sure if I am going out for a range day or transporting more than one for hunting they get cased.

The problem is if I want to got out with one gun for a time I'd like to take the bike. I can't find saddle bags big enough for even the smallest broke down that will fit on the back of an XS650. I doubt slinging any of them will go over well either. It would be a ride to enjoy, a good hunt (any hunt is), and a good ride back. Being armed while riding is not a concern, I'm not that worried about things. Just transporting them safely and legally here in Ohio.

Also how do you guys hang your rifles on the back of your truck seat? I could fit more in and not have to put any in the truck bed if I could figure that out.

Soft sided guitar cases and short ARs have worked for me in the past.

That's if cased guns in the open is OK under Ohio law, that I don't know....

Even the sherriffs have been unable to answer beyond "I wouldn't stop you, but someone else might" Its a gray area I think. Inaccessible and ammo separate is the guide. I could box a few rounds and be ok there, but the gun disassembled and in a soft case- I have a tactical rifle case with a sling on it- might or might not be "inaccessible"

I don't know about the other two, but that AR might fit in a tennis racket case. I know an AK with folder will.

I have a trailer I pull behind the Harley. It works great and I can haul 125 lbs in it. I have pulled it all over the country.

I ride and shoot. You have a common problem. The AR is easy, just separate the upper and lower and it will fit in a short soft case/backpack you can hang on your back.
Now, the perfect gun for hunting and motorcycle carry is a Thompson-Center Contender. I have a big scooter and my ammo, gun and sandbags all fit under the seat. Where I live I can go for a nice ride in the mountains and stop at the gun range and never leave the pavement.........life is good.

I ride and shoot also. I will take my 10-22 Ruger/Tapco to the range by just strapping it on the passenger pillion and sissy bar. But here in South Georgia I hardly get a second look. A motorcycle is a personal vehicle and Georgia law allows you to carry a weapon in your vehicle without a carry license as long as it is in full view.

I'm not big on carrying on my body while motorcycling. If I go down, I don't want hard metal objects strapped to me.

I bought an SKS a few years ago. Still in the cardboard box, I just strapped it down to my pillion seat and rode home. Got a few funny looks from bystanders as my bike looked a bit like Buzz Lightyear.

you could always break it down and put it in a bedroll across the front handlebars or on the passenger pillion.

Buy yourself a Kel-tec Sub2000 and stick it in a laptop case.

I have a couple smaller (single) hard cases that I can fit two unscoped rifles in. I run very heavy gauge wire though one of the lock holes at the corner of each case and tie that end to the passenger peg. I then run the case more of less vertically to the sissy bar and use bungies to hold the case to it.
