WV DNR has long denied any wild cougars in the state, claiming escaped pets or misidentification. They're wrong.

Now for "the rest of the story." No idea if it's true. Patient lives in the boonies. Keeps a pet cougar, has 5 or 6 regular visitors including 1 "black panther." DNR confiscated his cat and brought charges. Judge said "There are no cougars in WV; therefore, you have not authority. Return the cat. Case dismissed".

Stay safe,
Bob

I have the NV camera up and the tunnel trap set with a pressure switch closure. I borrowed it from a friend.

We have cat-sighting reports pretty often in VA even though the gov't denies that they're here. I wouldn't be surprised if they're around, since they are extremely sneaky critters who typically avoid contact with humans. I've heard that they can stalk you for hours without you ever knowing it....

Big Cats

Hey there:
I live in SW Mich. A few miles from here some time back a guy had a live cat penned up. Some gal went in there to feed it and it killed her. They said she went in there often but this time it was that "time of the month" and the cat went nuts.
The DNR says we do not have cats here . My neighbor just down the street saw one in his yard. Called the DNR. They came out made a casting of some tracks and left. They would not talk to the guy about it. Later my next door neighbors young farm hand came from a back field very fast on a quad from bringing in the cows. he could not even talk right. He says he saw a huge blackish Brownish cat. With a very long tail. Even after 5 sightings east of here the DNR still says we have no cats. But last years hunting rule book now says we can not shoot cougars in Mich. But we have no Cats.
