Ole Eustace went nuts on a neighbor, trespassed, blocked her driveway, and littered her property with posters, for which he was arrested last December.

turtle isl was shut down for building code violations, an act of the legislature was passed to exempt "traditional" buildings.

The guy claimed he road a horse cross country and set a record, but two young brothers did the same in 1911 and beat him by a couple days.

He is just a Ewell Gibbons wannabe

Wow.......

Dec. 13, 2012. Eustace Conway of Turtle Island was arrested yesterday afternoon after being served a warrant for second-degree trespassing on a neighbors land in the Triplett community of Watauga County.

Margaret A. Palms, who resides at 2473 Little Laurel Road, reported the offense to Watauga County Sheriff’s Office. The offense is dated Sunday, Dec. 9, and the warrant was issued on Monday, Dec. 10, according to records filed at the Watauga County Courthouse.

At 4:11 p.m. on Wednesday, Watauga County Sherriff’s Deputy S. Morrison served the warrant to Conway, who was then brought to the Watauga County Magistrates.

According to those records, Conway “unlawfully and willfully” entered the premises of Palms after being notified not to enter or remain on her property.

“He went and tied our gate shut, so we couldn’t get out and he put posters all over our gates, mailboxes, fences. Then he put big wooden barriers, so we couldn’t get out,” Palms said on Thursday morning. “He just kind of went nuts.”

Palms said that there is only one way to drive off of her property, which borders Conway’s Turtle Island Preserve, a 1,000-acre primitive living site and educational camp that has existed for 26 years and recently closed to the public.

Palms, an attorney and real estate agent in Boone, said that Conway disputes the property line. She has lived at 2473 Little Laurel Road for 18 years and said she used to be good friends with Conway until about five or six years ago.

“He comes trespassing from time to time, and we’ve asked him not to. He’s harassing us,” Palms said. “I just want him to stay away from our property.”

Reached on Thursday morning, Conway said he wished he could respond, but his lawyer advised him to not make any comments to the press regarding the trespassing charge.

Turtle Island Preserve has been closed to the public since mid October for violating building and health codes after a neighbor called the department of Watauga County Planning and Inspections about unpermitted buildings being built on the Turtle Island Property.

Director Joe Furman later received a detailed map of the property. Furman added that he didn’t talk to or know the name of the complainant, but Furman said he believed it was a male who called and reported the unpermitted buildings.

Asked if she was the neighbor who complained, Palms replied, “No.”

Conway was released yesterday afternoon with a written promise to appear in court on Jan. 24, 2013. The document of his release at the courthouse stated, “Do Not Threaten or Harass Margaret Palms.”

Well it sounds like the nosy woman had it coming. Stay out of others business and they will most likely stay out of yours.

Well il chime in. As a southern Louisiana native, Swamp people is total bull.

And Shelby from axe men is a disgrace to humanity. Just a Druggie playing trick pony for a few extra bucks.

Eustace needs to invent a wayback machine so he can lead the life he wants.

He lives on 1K acres in a free country. It seems he should be able to live the life he wants.

The one I get a kick out of is Marty breaking down with his snowmobile, and he's not sure whether he'll get out before he freezes to death. BTW who was filming that episode and how did they get out there. Give me a break!:banghead:

@4V50 Gary, they actually did shut it down. But he persuaded them to let it open because he claimed the buildings were "grandfathered" basically. The Food Lion is seriously , 2 miles from his land. Also in the Food Lion shopping center is a Outdoors store (Grashal Outdoors) that sells firearms, gear and basically everything for an outdoorsman. He has been spotted in there buying ammunition. He buys more stuff than they lead you to,believe. He usually sends his "volunteers" to go buy what they need though.

The volunteers are College students fom Appalacian State University. He offers to teach them to live off the land or their hard work. Turtle Island was open to tours for schools and such, but the county put a stop to that.

old useless wants to be left alone, but he sure likes bothers others.if he came on my property and did the things he done on that womans property i would have taken a baseball bat to his useless ass. eastbank.

yep and I live on 50 acres but I'm smart enough to know that I have to pay property taxes and work within the zoning laws.

Free country? It was never really free.

To hear Eustace whine about land being developed and how he wishes he could buy more to save it made me realize he's just like the suburbanites who move out to the country, the first thing they do is post their property then they want to go about controlling what you do on yours.

It's TV, it's not real.

Go to Barnes and Noble, buy some books and learn to read.

Pawn Stars and the rest is a waste of time.

Agree with you fdf that Tee-Vee is a waste. However, this thread is highly amusing.

I like Duck Dynasty because it's just goofy entertainment, and that's what it's meant to be. Not trying to make us believe something's real when any fool knows damn good and well there's a whole camera and sound crew there. At least Gold Rush shows behind-the-scenes and outtake footage revealing the film crews.

That stupid Ice Road Truckers just insults my intelligence. The trucks always slide out of control right where the camera crew is standing on the side of the road? Really? And all the shots of the trucks going over the ice, filmed from UNDER the ice? Really?

Gettin' back to squirrely business from last evening...... .30 Cal. is OK for squirrel huntin' but we Killem' by barkin'em off the tree with larger calibers.....much easier too.

ok so it's not all real but all books are fiction just depends on the degree, even historical accounts have some opinion and conjecture.

I like MM and other shows like it for their entertainment and nothing more.

Eustace is simply annoying. Everyone has to pay property taxes. His plan of paying off his 40K loan by selling firewood?? Good luck buddy.

We all have our own thoughts of what is presented on the tube and can make our own decisions of what is real.

Seems simple.

There is way too much contrived on the show.
Any cable portrayal of Alaska is riddled with lies.
I lived 30 miles north of the arctic circle in Kotzebue, over 500 miles from Anchorage and really far from the nearest road. There are three 737-400's that landed there every day. You can buy ammunition, TP, light bulbs, ice cream, and hamburger at two local stores. A few people do freeze to death, but usually it involves alcohol, stupidity, or both. There are more remote villages, but even then, planes carry stuff in. It's not like people are out there knapping flints into projectile points because Winchesters haven't made it that far north yet.

And for the family that lives down near Kachemak Bay... one of my friends drove by their place. You can see it from the road, and they are less than 10 miles from Homer. There are still people all over the lower 48 who live further than that from the nearest town. I give them credit for working toward self sufficiency, but if they needed a starter for the pick-up tomorrow they'd probably hop into another working vehicle and drive to the nearest NAPA to buy one. They're not out in the garage forging their own car parts from leaf springs and garden stakes.

yeah I wondered about that show, in one episode the guy and his wife take a long snowmobile ride to a lake to icefish they claim it's a remote location but on a wide shot of the shoreline you can see buildings :)

For over 60 years my dads family have lived in Fairbanks (and have a cabin in Circle). The Alaska shows tend to be way off. It still kills me when I get back from visiting and people from NC don't believe that it gets in the 80's in Fairbanks in the summer. Then they start on the "it's either daylight all day or dark all day"..

I do however watch Alaska State Troopers some, mainly to see the scenery, but it even gets "more dramatic" than it needs to.

The reality shows may not be realistic, but I 'd rather watch them than all the housewives shows.

"...show is full of inaccuracies..." The History Channel has very little to do with history.
"...second-degree trespassing..." And I thought our laws were daft. That trespassing without intending to trepass?
