Mounting a Nikon scope on a 10/22

New to this so please bare with me. I am having trouble mounting Nikon Prostaff 4/32 on the 10/22's factor supplied mount plate. Do the Nikon's ring fit the plate supplied with the Ruger. Thanks for any imput.

Do they seem to be a bit too wide and you can't tighten them down enough to mount the scope securely?

Jef, Here's a pic of the way I mounted my Nikon ProStaff to my 10/22. I had to put a base on it because I couldn't tighten rings to the rifle if I remember correctly. The base and rings I have now have worked great for me for at least 6 years now.

Thanks for responding Arizona. The rings actually seem to narrow and when tighten them they seem to offset the scope just a hair.
