Say good buy to sailing. It’s official.

The fastest growing sport/ hobby for people in the demographic of 25-40 who make over $100k a year is skeet/ trap shooting and upland bird hunting.

I was sitting in the barbers waiting to get a hair cut at lunch today and was flipping through a Kiplinger’s Magazine and saw what I though was a gun advertisement, when I realized that it was an article about shotgun sports and its new place among the younger, well-to-do Americans.

What do you guys think?

It's great that shooting sports are growing. The more of us there are, the harder it will be to ban things. It also means that these new shooters need to be educated fully on safety, and that we may be able to turn some of them into shooters of everything, and not just trap.

I think it's great! Not all shotgunners are 100% pro-gun but the more people that shoot and are into the shooting sports the better.

Golf is an OK sport but I think guns are a lot more fun. I have taken a few avid golfers trap shooting and they really enjoy it. Kevin Matthews, a talk show host in Chicago, is an avid golfer. He got turned on to trap and sporting clays by a couple Chicago Bears players.

That is great news - I now have four friends who are stepping into rifles now that they are over 40.... good for all of us.

Be safe, BSR

Great to know one of the shooting sports is in a growth mode. As for 'move over Golf" I would think think the world series of poker, women's beach volleyball and curling would have to move over before golf :neener:

$30 BILLION spent annually on shooting sports by the 20 MILLION active participants:)

of course, not to mention the other 60 MILLION gun owners:D

Shotgun sports have always been a pastime of the Genteel...
Recall Dick Cheney's blasting of his hunting pardner.

I expect a good quarter of that comes from members of THR.:) I wonder if that 30 billion accounts for all the private firearm and equipment transactions found here and elsewhere. I'm always buying and selling gear.

I'm working on a project to combine the two.

I'm calling them golf guns.
Will bring a whole new meaning to "sand trap".

Or if there was a defensive side to golf -- where the other participants could use firearms to prevent golve balls from going in the holes :scrutiny:

Geez -- I've got too much time on my hands
