Well as I near my retirement age I had long thought of moving to upstate NY. I have loved the Lake George area since I was a kid. Now I don't think so anymore. Living in NJ for decades I figured a move to NY state not a big deal until now. What happens if you already have the ebr's and want to move into the state?

solman;

If you brought those in to the state you'd be committing a felony after the enactment date.

If you move inside the next year, and REGISTER them, you could theoretically slide in there with them.

However, any magazine over 10 rounds has to go.

I grew up on Lake George. Believe me when I say as nice as it is, there are far better places for you and your guns. Sad, because when i was a kid, I shot rifles in the back yard all the time. 2000 acres will let you do that.

Come out West. There are still people and places here where you and your guns will be welcome.

Wow, even if you owned them before this new law took effect?
Well, I'm out.
Pa. here I come

It's a sad state of affairs when you have to consider that, but seriously, I would not want to move someplace where I'm considered a criminal for owning a few rifle accessories.

I lived in NY state in the seventies. Left for other reasons than firearms but it was ridiculous concerning firearms back then. You could not pay me enough to move back there.

solman, there are many other parts of the country that are just as attractive, more economical to live (low taxes, low cost of living), more friendly folks, and more firearm friendly than New York or New Jersey.

The most real estate taxes I have ever paid were on my 1600 sq foot starter home in NY state 35 plus years ago. I live on a small horse farm these days.

It is a sad state of affairs as the laws are not based on facts, but rather emotion. Facts show that banning hi-cap mags is ineffective, but the powers that be don't care about facts. This is eerily like history, disarm the citizens and then they can not defend themselves from tyranny.

What makes you think the laws in NJ will be any less restrictive than in NY?

I live in NY but on the borders of NJ and PA. I have a NY concealed carry permit and also a PA one. NJ will not even consider allowing me in that state.

Once King Obama gets done with what ever mandates he has planned you might have a very hard time finding any state to move to.

Tennessee is a great place to live! I left the hell hole that is New York (Cortland) in 1987. Never looked back. Pretty country, but economically and politically I hated it. Why move to, and pay taxes in, a state that thinks you are a dangerous person that needs to be marginalized and monitored because you believe in the Constitution, Liberty, and the right to self-defense?

Don't be a tyrant and don't live under a tyrant.

There are much better places to live.
