Just got done watching the movie Shoot 'Em Up. They must have consulted the Brady fools before making this movie.. its full of anti-gun propaganda. I guess I shouldnt be surprised. Anyone else see this piece of garbage? :cuss:

I hadn't looked at previews.. some friends had suggested it. They said that the movie is (satire) making fun of the different laws that the anti's have passed and are trying to pass.

Funny I didn't find it to be anti-gun, it was just another action flick to me I didn't wanna read too deeply into it. As far as movies go, eh...it was pretty much what I expected but not as good. Now 3:10 to Yuma that was a great flick, I would certainly recommend that over Shoot 'em Up.

The new Jodie Foster movie looks good, but I think it will stir up some anti-gun sentiment with her running around shooting people that make her mad. I have a feeling the anti's are going to have a field day with that one. She certainly looks reckless in the previews, lets hope she shoots because she has to and not because she wants to.

There's an Entertainment Weekly article about The Brave One where Jodie Foster states her beliefs that nobody should be allowed to own guns. Sorry to dissappoint, but she's as anti as anti gets. Ironic, no?

Jodie Foster: ...I don't believe that any gun should be in the hand of a thinking, feeling, breathing human being. Americans are by nature filled with rage-slash-fear. And guns are a huge part of our culture. I know I'm crazy because I'm only supposed to say that in Europe. But violence corrupts absolutely...

Violence corrupts absolutely? I thought it was Power, as in Max Weber's definitions of power, one of which happens to be persuasion, as in the persuasive power Ms. Foster possesses... And appears to have been corrupted by.

Violence in and of itself is essential to life on Earth, including humanity. Life is violence, from prize fighting to chewing celery. The most ironic thing is that 'enlightened' ones like Foster would have no problem using violence to remove guns from everyone else's hands, it's not wrong if it's for a good cause, and all that...

I, for one, will be watching The Brave One. I may as well go with my hearing protection, because I'd only watch it to watch her. So I have a thing for her. And I do need to see Death Wish again, my friends are saying that The Brave One looks like a rip-off, even several scenes.

Now, Shoot 'Em Up? I went with some friends to see this a few hours ago. Awesome-tastic! Don't read into it, you'll waste your time. It's action & violence for the sake of action & violence. Three words - over the top!

thats what I said jerkface, rather then charles bronson, who was awesome, they are using jodie foster, who is the opposite of awesome.

Funny how the anti-gun nuts just never seem to hear or want to hear the one unquestionable reason for owning and or carrying guns.....SELF DEFENSE. With their logic, everyone should just lay down and die for anyone that should attack them, try to rob them, etc. As horrible as it may seem, I wish upon all of those people that they will experience a non-lethal attack or robbery so they might better understand NOTHING is worth risking your life over, even if it means you have to momentarily step down off their high horse to shoot some piece of sh*t criminal trying to take their life. No one in their right mind wants (not even gun owners despite what they think) to seriously injure or kill another person, but I think we'd all like to keep living even more. :cuss: You just can't please everyone I guess.

I didn't find the movie to be anti-gun. Actually, it had a pretty funny potshot at the anti's. Clive was watching TV with the baby and said "Hmm. That's funny. He cry's when this senator is talking about ridiculous gun control, but he likes watching this other show" (think it was something with copious amounts of shooting in it). ;)

always find it hilarious when someone is "totally against guns" ... but they don't mind portraying people who use them in order to get paid... people don't really amaze me... but sometimes... bleh

J/Tharg!

I think this movie was made by dumb Hollywood boneheads with little to no attention paid to the PEW PEW things that shoot bad guys by the dozen. Also, if you put cartridges between your fingers and stick your hand in a fire, they will go off, killing your attack ten feet away and giving you only a slightly burnt hand and sore knuckles!
