My brother is moving from AZ and he has his CCW there what does he need to do once he moves to TN? Thanks, James.

From http://www.state.tn.us/safety/handgun/apprequirements.htm

Arizona

Applicant must be twenty-one (21), complete the Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit application, provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency, and pay the applicable renewal fee.

So basically he'll just need to run down to his local DOS office, fill out an application, provide a certified copy of his birth certificate, pay the renewal fee ($50 as I recall), and then go home and wait. And wait. And wait some more.

Actually, the wait currently seems to have gone down a lot. I moved out here last year, and applied for my TN permit earlier this year. It took about 95 days to finally show up in the mail. But folks now are reporting wait times closer to 4-6 weeks.

In any case, he'll be able to carry with his AZ permit for six months after moving here.

Since Arizona has a training requirement and background check similar to TN, you probably would only pay $50 to the department of safety for a handgun carry permit without messing with getting fingerprinted or a class. They will run a background check. It is very simple and you get to keep your out of state license for up to six months after you move to TN....gives you time to get your permit. You get fill out the one page renewal form at the same place you get your driver license. I did both my DL and carry permit applications when i moved from Arkansas.

TN permit is to carry. Doesn't have to be concealed, but it is advised. You may also carry as many as you want, there is nothing about how many you may carry. :what:

Thanks everybody for the info, I will pass this along to my brother.
