I found a post on THR from long ago concerning the Russian IzMech MP 412 REX. I learned about these pistols on "modern firearms and ammunition", and liked the idea. I know that top break revolvers were supposedly weak in the latch, but the latch system on the REX seemed (on paper) to be a big improvement over the old style. I would like to have one. I know that production ceased shortly after the Clinton / Yeltzin agreement and they were never sold in the US, but reports state that they were sold in Europe for a while. Has anyone heard of any of these guns making it into the US for sale? A gunsmith friend of mine said that he saw a couple of them back in the late '80s and was impressed.

i was under the impression that it was never put into production... so i guess you can't get them anywhere

It was designed for export (REX, Revolver for EXport), but never put into full production due to lack of a market.

The weapon was designed by IZHMECH, the state-owned Russian Izhevsk Mechanical Plant, which also designed and produced the Makarov PM semi-automatic pistol.

So if you was to find one it would be very costly since it never made it to full production there would be a small number of them floating around and more than likely in collector hands. Such a shame as I would love to have one myself!

EDIT: Holy crap Zombie Thread from 2008!!!
