Hy to all. I am curious what are your impressions of this one http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg145-e.htm ? It is looking like brick, but it feels good in hand and it's very tough - I beliave that this gun is the answer of IZMASH to the line of Ruger pistols, but made with less cosmetic troubles and more vodka! (I love vodka too). Have you seen one of these, shoot it, own it?? It is popular here, especialy with police officers - well made, strong and cheap, but I would like to know what are your thoughts about them?
P.S. In these pictures the pistol is shown with hammer in a full cocked position, and the gun has no firing pin safety.

Not in the U.S.

Wish we could get these in the U.S. If it's have as reliable as a Makarov and in the same price range, then they would be good sellers.

This pistol is crap.how it can compare to Sig and Glock.it cant even compete Chinese pistols.

I'd be very surprised if you can't get this in the U.S. by now. Hell, they have them in Canada:

No we don't really get them in Canada either. The supplier lists them but only a handful have showed up north of the border. The all steel one would be nice but is classified as a military weapon by the Russians and they don't export those as a general rule.

I've got a thing for quirky eastern block pistols, this one would fit the bill nicely.

If our government ever allows them to be imported, I'll snag one in a heartbeat. Until then, all I have is wishes and hopes.

The russians make some fantastic designs, and they are really at the top of firearms designs these days. However import laws being what they are prevent us from getting just about anything. There are dozens of designs in russia right now that would sell like hotcakes if they could be imported.

Of their pistol designs, I have lusted after the MP-448 'Skyph' for quite a while.

basically just an slightly improved makarov...but it looks sexah.

I also think their GSh-18 would sell well here.

Glad to see someone doing a write up on an not-so-well-known pistol. Interesting that it has the extractor in the 12 o'clock position. Also interesting that Russia has adopted the 9x19, albeit in a very hot (+P+) loading.

To all our non-North American member, I encourage you to post info on guns we don't see here. This is great stuff!

Great review SA. I was actually screwing around on worldguns last night and was wondering about this pistol.

Typical Russian weapon cheap to make simple and likely very reliable. I should think 'Kolhoznik' would be better name for it. Our version is called S&W Sigma. If I didn't have enough for a Glock 19 I would take closer look at it. To me they're all just tools.

I carry MP446 Viking as my primary SD gun and I prefer it over Glock 17. It's a very reliable and reasonably accurate gun which shoots every thing and anything that you feed into it, all the time.

I hear that Russians designed MP 443 Grach for 7N21 and 7N31 ammo which are really hot stuff AP rounds. MP446 Viking is the sporting model of MP443 Grach and as per Baikal, the only difference is steel frame in Grach and polymer one in Viking. However, I haven't checked Viking's performance with 7N21 and 31 because these ammos are not commercially available. With normal 9mm FMJs and JHPs, its shoots like a dream. Its dual feed ramp makes it a very very reliable gun for all types of ammo :)
