I just wanted to say that our very own moderator, Mr Stephen Camp has one of his books featured in the Annual edition of American Handgunner Magazine. I was browsing through it today and reading an article about a 9mm 1911. And one of the photos shoes Mr Camp's book "The Shooter's Guide to the 1911 Pattern Pistol". I just wanted to say congratulations, and for anyone who hasn't already done so, you can check out his website at hipowersandhandguns.com which has many very well written informative articles. I sound like a brown noser, but the truth is i just really enjoy his writings.

Mr. Camp is a very experienced professional in all walks of life, including
that of a police officer, shooter, writer, moderator, and most importantly-
a friend. I'm glad his teachings have found their way into the hands of the
American Handgunner. ;)

+1 on everything said!

Mr Camp's website is a great resource in learning about weapons and calibers. Alot of down to Earth views, not PICK THIS SUPER CALIBER YOU GIRLYMAN! And it ranges from SA classics to lowly snubbies!

I don't buy gun magas anymore, but I'll get this one.

haha thats true. Its definitely refreshing to hear someone that knows what their talking about not tell you something like "Only a wuss carries a 9" :)

Way to go, Mr Camp. I have always enjoyed your post both in content and delivery. No matter how out of control some may be, you are always calm, and your words are well chosen.

There are many sides of every coin.

If you are terrified of being involved in a shooting that is followed by legal action that is contrived and horrible and will find any angle to destroy you, then by all means, read Ayoob.
If you like guns a heck of a lot, and don't really want to spen all your time worrying about what the prosecution will do to you, read Stephen Camp
They both have a lot to offer, but I have enjoyed Mr. Camp's writing much more over the years, and recommend him to anyone.

I have to say Mr. Camp's writing is well done and very informative. I own all of his non-fiction work, and have found them all very good. He is also a gentleman of the first order.

He accidently included an extra book on an order I placed, and when I told him of the fact and asked where to send it back to, he told me to keep it and that he hoped that I found it of some use. Truely first rate.

I've found Stephen Camp to be one of the most informative gun writers I've ever come across. He's almost unique in his matter-of-fact approach to evaluating a firearm. I've never seen him use the bluff and bluster so common to this sport/hobby. He writes about what he knows (which is considerable) and will say so when he doesn't. That in itself is why I find him to be so credible.

We're very lucky to have him as a contributor to these forums.

Ditto on everything said about Mr. Steven Camp.:) Congratulations, sir.
Hope to see more of this.

Hello. Again, thank you all very ,very much. On the gun books, I try and write what I think I would ask were I exploring that particular type of handgun. Sometimes it seems that what I've read elsewhere in print doesn't always jibe with what my own personal experiences and observations have been. This is the reason that I pretty much stick to what I've seen "work" or "not work" long term. Any maker out there can turn out a crummy...or better-than-usual example of their guns and a fellow getting the poor gun vs. the fellow getting the perfect one will have two very different views of the the same make and model but both are true based on what they have seen and experienced. For that reason, I try and include more than one or two handguns of the same make and model. This takes time and money. I buy my guns just like the rest of the folks here so I simply cannot buy a half-dozen guns to test, but if I've shot that many (or more) repeatedly over the years, I feel pretty sure in making a comment be it pro or con.

This is one reason it takes me a while to crank out a new book. The other is that I just have too many irons in the fire right now, so to speak.

I also have to be interested in the particular gun in question. I just flat don't have the cash to buy guns that I'm not interested in keeping, be they revolvers or autoloaders.

I cannot promise the folks who trust me enough to buy my books that I will not make a mistake ... but I can promise to try not to.

Best.

American Handgunner should be honored to publish Mr. Camp's work.

Mr. Camp is a class act.I own two of his books(Defensive Handguns and 9mm Ammunition for the Browning HP) and both are excellent.

If a person wants to learn about handguns, it would be in their favor to check out Mr. Camp's website.

I might just have to pick up that defensive handguns one... i'd get the 1911 or hi-power one, but i'm not sure that i'll pick up either a 1911 or hi-power in the near future. I'll tell you what though, it would've been a hillarious april fools prank if Mr Camp had announced that he had given up Hi-Powers and switched over to Glocks:)

Mr. Camp reviews at his web site are clear, very well done based on experience and his posts here and other forums are worth reading, for BHP fans and other firearms enthusiasts.

Congratulations Mr. Camp

what i like about Camp's stuff is it is not loaded with bias or belittling prejudice towards or against any particular round or gun......

he is straight forward and OBJECTIVE in his approach without the b.s. lecture other writters seem to always include....

he is like FOX news, he reports, you decide......

another point worth mentioning, while there are plenty of high dollar guns with a lot of Foo-Foo and all that........Mr. Camp tends to focus on guns that a working man can appreciate and would be more likely to actually use for self defense.......i find his lack of gun snobbery refreshing.....

Thats what I love about Stephen's writings. He is objective and fair. Thats all you can ask for and, honestly, much more than some other writers can manage. Oorah Stephen!

PS..He also runs the BEST forum around. THR rocks.

Hello and thanks very much. All I do here is moderate one section. Lots of moderators and others make the place "work".

Best and thank you again.

I have his book on High Powers, and it is probably the most informative piece of writing out there on them. And I am pretty hard to please...

May have to look into the 1911 book as my daughter just bought her first one after only knowing Glocks since age 13. Might make a nice present.
