Does anyone here know if MSN.com is anti? I just went to highspeed, and it came with a free msn.com account, so I figured I'd use it. I recently regestered at glocktalk.com, and I have never received the confirmation email that they send. I just kinda figured it got lost, and since I'm not a glock owner, I just kinda blew it off. I changed my email address here to my new MSN, and the confirmation got through (but thehighroad.org probably wouldn't set them off if they have anti-gun filters).

Earlier tonight, I tried to change my user CP on two state specific groups I belong to, one with "shooting" in the .com and one with CCW in the .com. NOTHING. No confirmation emails from either, and I cannot log in until I "confirm" the new email address!

If I don't get some confirmations, I'll have to ask the board owners to reset my account to my old address, then I'm gonna have to tell MSN where to shove it. Thankfully they aren't my ISP, just a "perk" for using the ISP.

Is Bill Gates anti-gun?:cuss:

MSN email is basically the same thing as Hotmail, right?

Check your junkmail folder. If you've never written to the originating address from the destination address it's likely that your confirmations are sitting among the spam.

And seriously... get Gmail. If you need an invite send me a PM.

And yes, Bill Gates is inded anti-gun, but I doubt that this has anything to do with your problem.

But then..... Maybe we'll see. :uhoh:

I use my free hotmail accounts as junkmail and registration confirmation only accounts. I've never not received an email due to any kind of filtering OTHER than spam filtering. So as stated above.. check the junk mail folder.
Most likey it was filtered as spam. And not for nefarious reasons.

Correction, as with Rosie O'Donnell and others, he seems to be against private citizens owning guns, but has no problems with rich sorts like himself and her having armed private bodyguards.

True enough. But I don't think that this has carried over to the point where MSN is messing around with folks e-mail accounts. But perhaps more evidence will prove me wrong. We'll see.

MSN and Hotmail are the same. The benefit to my ISP having MSN is that I can get my MSN mail through outlook, rather than having to go through the hotmail web interface (but I can get it there, too). Looked in junkmail already. The first mail I received at the new address was from [email protected], and IT ended up in junkmail! Had to put myself on the safe list. I also added all of the shooting web sites to my safe list (after the fact). Checked this morning, and still NOTHING.

As to Gmail, I seemed to have gotten in there during some "no invite needed" window about a year ago. When I first learned about it, I went to check it out and because of the amount of space allocated, I set up an account for my students to email their homework. I suppose I could email myself one of those invites and open a personal account there, too.... Hey, that's a good idea...

Perhaps I'll just contact MSN and politely ask where my email is.

I just use the web interface with Gmail. I like being able to access it from any web browser anywhere.

I have lots of invites too if someone wants one let me know.

Hotmail works with outlook express.

I haven't accessed my hotmail accounts via the web in years.

You do however have to remember to check hotmail accounts at least every 30days.. otherwise they may close it. Or so they say.

*edit* just put this in the server URL http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp
enter your entire email address in the loginname.

I won't allow outlook on my computers because of all the holes in it for attacks on the system. I use Eufora and enjoy being able to preview the contents of the mail before opening it. Catches many attacks right there.

I couldn't setup a hotmail account until I changed my name from armedandsafe to rifler39. :what: Go figure.

Bill Gates anti-gun?

Maybe, maybe not. Microsoft has a gun club. Although they meet on campus, they can't carry on campus.

There was a handgun owner licensing initiative (I-676) in Washington in 1997. Gates' father was a big player, donated $100K to the initiative, but Gates Jr only gave a few thousand and did not enter the fray. I suspect Gates Jr's contributions were only at dad's behest. If Gates was a committed anti, we'd be hurting.

Microsoft gun club guys were major players in setting up computers for the No on 676 campaign, as well as doing extensive volunteer work against the initiative. I was the chairman of the "no" campaign and can attest to "Microsoft's" contribution AGAINST the initiative.

BTW, we won the initiative fight 71-29%, despite several early polls showing 65% support FOR the initiative.

Bill Sr. WSGOP? Then why does he oppose any effort of the peons to have a say in government, and why does his law firm so devoutly support WA Dems like they were born-again Communists?

I live here, I know Bill Sr. to be Big Lib.

Hmmm... maybe this explains why WSRP acts like a bunch of eunuchs so much on conservative/pro-freedom/government-limiting issues.
