I was checking out SOG's Christmas specials this year and thought I might buy a couple of handguns. I currently have an 03 FFL (C&R). I was curious though, is SOG required to send the ATF a multiplue handgun purchase form if I buy two C&R handguns with my 03 FFL within 5 days? Its not a big deal, but with the holidays approaching, I don't want to have to deal with the hassle of a visit from my local ATF officer.

No.

18 USC 923 (g)(3)(A):

§ 923. Licensing

(g)
(3)
(A) Each licensee shall prepare a report of multiple sales or other dispositions whenever the licensee sells or otherwise disposes of, at one time or during any five consecutive business days, two or more pistols, or revolvers, or any combination of pistols and revolvers totalling two or more, to an unlicensed person. The report shall be prepared on a form specified by the Attorney General and forwarded to the office specified thereon and to the department of State police or State law enforcement agency of the State or local law enforcement agency of the local jurisdiction in which the sale or other disposition took place, not later than the close of business on the day that the multiple sale or other disposition occurs.

there is no downside to faxing the multiple form. So I would just do it

I would consider any information the government obtains about a person's firearms collection to be potentially harmful. I would not do business with an FFL who sent reports not otherwise required to the ATF and local LEO agencies simply because they felt "there was no downside" in doing so.

Navy LT nailed it, never heard of it being need as youARE A LICENSEE
BTW are they on line, or is there a new flier out??

NavyLT is correct.

However I recently had a very bad experience with SOG. I would never deal with them again. I would use another company. Aimsurplus and J&G sales come to mind.

Thanks guys!

They have a new flyer out, and if you've gotten the flyer in years past, you'll know they have their Christmas specials and this year they taken a good chunk off of their Tokarevs and CZ-82s, among others.

I knew of a small suburb South of Chicago that had an 'agreement' with the sole gunshop in town to provide a list of all guns sold and purchasers to the police department every week. It was, apparently, the price they paid for their business license.

Discussing the disturbing aspect of this with their police chief, his statement was, 'well, what can it hurt?'

He was not intelligent enough to explain that he was chipping away at a foundation of freedom laid down with the lives and fortunes of many brave men, and 'hurting' something as non-corporeal as the abstract concept of 'freedom.'

Of course, this was the same chief who, when discussing the second amendment, said (in front of witnesses) "F$%k the constitution!", so perhaps it wasn't that as innocently stupid as it seemed.
