Must have revolvers...

One of the better copies of the Colt SAA, I'd say.

I like this one, the Gaucho in real case-hardening. This one is .45 LC, and is MUCH better made than the Italian reproductions. This one can use the newest, highest-pressure hollowpoints.

Everybody needs a DA .357 and some kind of single action.

+1

Actually i have 2, both ruger, one speed six, and one security six, love 'em both. But i'd really like to get a Colt SAA clone in 45LC, i kinda like the uberti gunfighter model.

I have a pretty minimal revolver collection - but they are good ones that should be included in any using collection.

1. A Ruger Single Six. Blue, 4 5/8 Barrel with adjustable sights. If I could only have one handgun for the rest of my life, it would be this one.

2. A six inch Smith and Wesson 686. A four inch would be fine too. Either is a pleasure to shoot at the range and a most capable defensive sidearm.

3. A Smith and Wesson Model 60, .38 special. Mine is a no dash model, the father of Stainless Steel snubnosed revolvers.

I agree with Terrierman as to his #2 and #3 choices. However, I would replace the #1 Single Six with a S&W model 17 or 617 double action. In my opinion it's just too much trouble to eject empty .22 cases one by one from a single action, since if you're shooting .22 at the range you'll probably go through a lot of rounds.

Colt SAA, Colt or SW 1917, Colt Detcetive Special, SW Mod. 10 m&p, SW mod 29, SW 38/44, Colt Lightning/Thunderer, Colt 1878 DA...

OK the last two are only on 'my' list, the rest are classics.

I think I've got a pretty complete collection. None of them are "rare" or "pristine" but I feel like I've got most of the bases covered....
...um, how many bases are there...exactly?

4" model 15 .38
4" model 18 .22
these two make for a nice matching pair of great "general duty" plinkers (house, range, field/hiking, etc.)
342 - lightweight hammerless snub for carry anywhere/everywhere
model 60 snub (original .38) just for cool factor!
Model 65 3"-if I could only keep one I would be very sad and mad...but it would be easy to choose!
Model19 2.5" doesn't really do anything not covered by at least one of the others, but also very cool:cool:

The only thing I feel might be missing is a 4" M19 or M66. Can't really afford to add one and wouldn't trade any of the above for one so I'm just doing without! (We'll see how long I can hold out, I was handling a 4" M19 at the pusher's today.)

To start a revo habit into a quick full swing: pick a j-frame, any .38 j-frame that tickles your fancy, add a 4" .357 K- or L-frame and you're good to go. (Trust me, more will come.)

"Must Have"

Small J Frame (642-2)

Medium K Frame (19-4)

Large N Frame (625-3)

The exact model and even calibers are somewhat flexable, but the overall concept is not.

1. J frame .38/357 snubby (Colt or Ruger counterpart allowed)
2. K/L frame .357 4" (Colt or Ruger counterpart allowed)
3. Big Bore .44 mag & up, single or double, depending on personal preferance.
Must have at least one from each catogory. Multiples are allowed.

Too many "revolver guy" answers here. Dr. Rob got it right, though. If you're a semi-auto lover and have at least one 1911, your only choice is a Colt or S&W 1917. No new ammo to buy and they are great, fun shooters. A Brazilian S&W 1917 is the only wheelie I have or want.

Must haves? For me:
j-frame. nothing worthwhile conceals better.
K-frame. The workhorse.
Ruger Redhawk. As much as I love S&W's, this is a great big bore revolver. Accurate, and very little recoil.-David

I have a D-frame Colt Cobra, an I-frame Colt Python, a J-frame S&W 940 and a Ruger SP-101. All are must have revolvers for me, except the Ruger. Its a damn fine gun, but it is a practical not a beautiful gun, kind of the Glock of revolvers.

I've had a couple of Large N-frame Smiths and found them to be to large and unwieldly for me, so meduim frame Colts are as large as I go. I still want one but can't justify the money on a gun I can't shoot very well.
