Folks;

Is there a good website that has all sorts of data on:

1. Muzzle velocity and energy from handgun and rifle loads, and
2. Muzzle velocity and energy from handgun loads fired through RIFLE
barrels?

I'm interested because I want to find out how 30-30s stack up to 7.62x39, .308Win, (I know it is less, but HOW MUCH less). I also want to know how much faster a 30-30 drops (ballistic chart). I'm looking for generic loads, as I know there are lots of variances in each round by manufacturers for different purposes.

I'm also wanting to know how a handgun cartridge (like .38special, .357Mag and .40S&W do out of a Rifle length barrel, for lever-action or carbine evaluation.

Any good link(s) would be appreciated. Thanks.

Remington Ballistic Comparison Charts:

http://www.remington.com/products/ammunition/ballistics/

It lets you compare several loads at the same time, and gives most of the data you'd want. The only thing it might lack is the handgun rounds out of rifle length barrels, but I've seen that data on THR somewhere...

They also have a decent ballistics software package available for download.

30-30 vs 7.62x39

154grn wolf

100yd ZERO = -6.8" at 200yds @1205 FTlbs
*************************
150grn Corelokt

100yd ZERO= -7.6" at 200yds @858 FTlbs
*************************
170grn Corelokt

100yd ZERO= -8.3" at 200yds @989 FTlbs
*************************

The wolf load has the same energy at 100 yds as a 170grn 30-30 bullet. These figures DO NOT take into account the rather overly optimistic factory velocities on 30-30 ammo
